Emily and Ali made there way back home the morning after the funeral. A couple weeks had gone by and Emily still couldn't push herself to tell Ali about the girl from the gym. She still had to work with the girl despite begging her boss to have someone else to train the girl.
"She doesn't want anyone else Em, sorry. She pays extra just to have you." Toby would tell her.
Things between Ali and Emily had changed. Emily had been allowed in the bedroom for a few weeks now, and they spent most of their free time together instead of ignoring each other. They had talked more about getting married and their future together but Emily couldn't help feeling guilty. There's never really a great time to tell your girlfriend the day her mother died was also the day another woman had kissed her.
Emily POV
Tonight was the night I was finally going to propose to Alison, she was completely oblivious to it too. We were going meet at a nice restaurant in Manhattan after she got out of work, of course she'd go home first and wash the hospital off of her, then she was on her way. I told her to stay out of the bedroom because there was a surprise in there, I had decorated the room for the occasion obviously and had picked up her favorite champagne. I triple checked that the ring was in my purse and mentally prepared what I was going to say the whole drive there. I was so nervous but so excited at the same time. This was a big step I was ready to take with her.
She had arrived to the restaurant, and my eyes followed her until she was sitting in front of me. We ordered our food and I got us a bottle of fancy wine, growing more and more nervous by the minute. Our food arrived fairly quickly and we chatted amongst ourselves while sipping on the wine. We finished our meals and I began slowly reached towards my purse. I fumbled around, feeling for the small box. Finally I got hold of it and pulled it out, setting it in my lap so I could collect my thoughts.
I looked across the table at my stunning girlfriend, she's smiling at me studying my every move with her eyes.
"I love you Alison DiLaurentis."
"I love you more Emily Fields." She said still smiling
"Ali I-" I was interrupted by a girl stumbling into our table.
The girl looked familiar from behind and when she turned around I recognized her immediately.
"Sarah?" I said quietly, but she wasn't looking at me, she was looking at the blonde that was sitting across from me.
"Hello" Alison said to the girl that was a stranger to her.
"Are you Alison?" Sarah attempted to say to her but it just came out all slurred.
"Emmy, this is the Alison?" She said turning towards me
"Emily what the hell is going on?!" Alison said raising her voice
"Has Emily told you yet?" Sarah said looking from me to Alison.
Sarah laughed a little "She wants to break up with you!" Sarah paused "We kissed at the gym Alison!"
A waiter came over and began ushering us outside. I grabbed my coat and slipped the small box into the inside pocket.
We were outside and Alison wasn't talking. She turned toward me her eyes filling with tears.
"Emily, is that true?" She asked me through her teeth.
"Hell yeah it's true Alison, tell her Emmy." Sarah said clearly not making the situation any better.
Ali did the most unexpected thing and turned towards the other blonde punching her straight in the face.
"Stop calling her Emmy!" Alison said through her cries
Emmy was Alison's nickname for me, anyone who ever called me Emmy besides her would earn the famous Alison DiLaurentis glare. I had never seen Alison so hurt and angry.
She turned back to me ignoring the girl on the sidewalk with blood running from her cheek to the pavement.
"Emily please" She said quietly
"It was a mistake Ali."
She immediately began to walk away, not letting me explain what had happened.
"Ali she kissed me!" I yelled following her up the street
"You know I would never do that to you Alison!"
She turned back towards me "Then why didn't you tell me Emily!?"
"The timing wasn't right your mom had just died" I said quietly
"Fuck you, Emily." Alison sighed and turned away from me getting in her car.
"Ali I- was going to propose."
But Alison didn't hear that, she drove away from before I could finish my sentence, and I realized I had ruined everything, nothing I could say or do would ever fix this.
