Being a girl in a group with seven guys seemed outright insane, and Bang PD received a lot of backlash for his daring decision once the band was announced. Many people argued that it would never work, that having a girl limited the range at which a group of boys could sing about.
They were almost right-almost.
In the groups debut song, No More Dream, the concept was a few shots off from being awkward. It just about seemed like a girl was randomly shoved into the screen with out much context. But it worked.
The large amount people who thought the group would never make it, were balanced out by the people who were intrigued to see if BTS could pull it off.
It may seem disheartening that the only reason BTS was not immediately disbanded was because they were interesting enough kept the right people entertained, but if it were't for that; they would have never have got the chance to thrive.
So the risk was taken, and (Y/N) just happened to be that aspect that would make or break BTS.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To say she was nervous would be the understatement of the century.
Their debut song was about to be released to the public and (Y/N) couldn't help but think the worst. A lot was riding on her, she was literally either going to help the group gain attention or destroy their career before it even began.
She couldn't bear the thought.
The seven boys she has gotten so accustom in the short year of her training sacrificed a lot to be here. Hell, Jungkook was only fifteen; it would haunt her for the rest of her life if the only reason they couldn't make it was the soul fact that she was girl. They didn't deserve that, to her-despite not knowing them long- the seven boys have become her family.
"Do you think we looked cool enough in the video?" The question came from the groups overly hyper J-Hope. Out of all the boys, J-Hope interest (Y/N) the most.Not because of anything shallow like looks, or even personality, J-Hope was just a surprisingly closed off character. (Y/N) sometimes felt like his over hyper like attitude was an act, and the others agreed with her. J-Hope may have acted happy and jubilant all the time, but the emptiness in his eyes and the off set looks he let show when he thought no one was looking said other wise.
Rap Monster, the leader of the group, slapped Hope on the back. "Of course we did, everything was set up perfectly. It will work out, just watch."
Always the motivator, (Y/N) thought almost grimly to herself. It's not as if she didn't appreciate Namjoon's optimistic attitude towards every situation, she just sometime believed he was covering up what he actually felt. She didn't think that he realized quite yet that being a leader necessarily meant he had to be positive all the time, you also had to face the negative. However, there was a gut feeling (Y/N) had that said Namjoon would grow to be an exceptional leader overtime.
Letting out a playful laugh and jerking his head to the side in amusement, Hoseok returned the slap by poking the younger male in the ribs. "I sure hope so, I didn't were the muzzle for three days for nothing." The rest of the group laughed at this. Hoseok's spiked face mask, or "muzzle", had become a joke among us, It started out when Hope tried to talk with the mask on, just to see how ridiculous it sounded, when Yoongi made the comment 'I though muzzles were meant to make you shut up, not get louder'. This left the Hope of the group pouting and a smug Min Yoongi claiming the glory as the rest of them egged him on.
"You should put it back on." The boys, save Hoseok, 'oh'ed at Yoongi's comment whilst (Y/N) simple shook her head and refreshed BigHit's YouTube page again. Upon doing so, her eyes widened in surprise.
Not really thinking about it, she reached out to repeatedly slap the nearest boy- which happened to be BTSs shy little maknae, Jungkook- and yelled, "guys, guys! It's up, they just released No More Dream!"
The boys reactions were almost immediate. No matter where they were or what they were doing, (Taehyung had been in the middle of shoveling ramen into his mouth) they all rushed over to the computer, crowding around it like hungry lions.
"Press play!" Jimin practically screamed in the girls ear.
She nodded frantically, complying to the demand as she too was beyond excited and nervous to see how the MV turned out.
The eight friends watched the video with an intense atmosphere. It was like they were scared to speak, like that would effect the impact of the video.
"Why does Jin look so small behind the steering wheel?" And just like that, they erupted in laughter and their worries seemed to fade away just like that.
And, somehow,(Y/N) knew they'd be alright.
