Third Person POV:
It seemed as if the more time Pan spent pacing around his tent, the more guilty he felt and the more he hated Baelfire. He remained in his tent, hating himself for what he had said about Eden. He felt like a fool. She wasn't a possession. Constantly, he was having to remind himself that he couldn't just have her. He had to work for her. Besides, he was a boy. He loved the chase, the games he could play, but Eden was innocent. She needed to be respected. She wasn't a prize to win, but he wanted to win her love.
Never would he think about hurting her, but he did. It was accidental, but he did.
"Eden...May I speak with you please?" Pan asked, standing in front of Eden's tent. Peter Pan hardly ever asked for permission, but this was Eden, so of course it was different. He knew she deserved privacy and after what he had said, if she didn't want to talk, he understood.
"Yes, Pan." Eden said from inside the tent, her voice soft as always. Pan frowned slightly, noticing she called him Pan instead of Peter. With shaking hands, which he crossed over his chest to hide the weakness, he entered her tent. He found her sitting on her bed, staring at the wall of her tent. He sighed, parking himself on her cot next to her.
"I'm here for several reasons." He commented. "One of them, you can probably guess." He mumbled, looking at his hands that now rested in his lap. Eden nodded her head, her eyes lingering on the wall before she forced herself to look away.
"You're here to apologize." Eden replied knowingly, her eyes finally meeting his. Pan nodded his head, mentally scolding himself for acting so shy about it. She deserved an apology.
"Yes. Eden, I was wrong to say that. I didn't mean to hurt you. I let my anger get in the way, and in return, I hurt you. I'm so sorry, Eden." He whispered. Normally, Eden was one to forgive right away, but the people who were fighting were the people she cared about the most. To Pans horror and disappointment, Eden didn't respond. She, instead, stood up, crossing her arms as she walked away from him. Her back was still turned to him.
"You may be apologizing now, but...You first hurt me a long time ago. How do you think it felt to be told that you owned me that night when I ran away." She said, her voice with a sad tone instead of bitter. Pan felt his heart sink even more, closing his eyes tightly.
"I was afraid...I...I thought you had changed." She whispered disappointedly, making Pan nearly break with anger with himself. He stood up abruptly, walking in front of Eden so quickly that she thought he was angry with her. She flinched slightly, but when Pan grabbed both of her hands, she knew he wasn't angered by her words.
"Eden..." He whispered, kneeling down on both his knees. Just like the picture in the cave...
"I'm trying...I'm a monster, yes. Thats the truth. I have murdered people before, I have crushed hearts, torn apart families, killed lost boys for disappointing me. I don't deserve your forgiveness. I don't deserve your mercy, but you show it to me anyway and I just can't understand it." He admitted, staring up into her brown eyes while his own glimmered with tears.
"I want to change for you, but I can't." He whispered, causing Eden to kneel down with him. She let go of his hands, placing hers on both sides on his face.
"No...You don't understand. You have become kinder. Thats the only change I wanted. If I expected you to change, that would mean I never really loved you in the first place." She said, her eyes darting between both of his. It was in that moment that Pan pieced her words together.
"You...You l-love me?" He asked shakily, looking into her soft brown eyes. His own viridescent eyes glimmered with tears whether he could help it or not, a smile lining his lips as soon as he heard Eden whisper 'I do.'
With those two words, Pan felt his heart jump. Someone loved him...He thought of his mother... She was gone. When she had died, he was alone and unloved. There was a reason Eden was the only lost girl. He was afraid of falling in love again only to get left behind.
"I...I love you, Pan, but I don't know how to show it." Eden whispered, Pan staring down at her beautiful features. He found her perfect, flawless in every way. He smiled, knowing it was that same innocence that made her say that. With a small chuckle, he gently cupped her chin, his eyes locking with hers.
"I understand. I guess we will have to learn together. But...here is one thing I know is right." He whispered. Eden knew what was coming. She leaned forward, her brown eyes slowly fluttering closed. Pan pressed his forehead against Eden's, his black heart suddenly becoming overwhelmed by happiness.
There were few things that could make his heart flutter, but so many that could darken it. Eden was -of course- one of the few things that made his heart light, that made him happy. He closed his eyes as well, their breath hitting each others face.
The very moment their lips were finally about to touch, Pan stumbled back, searching for breath frantically. He began to chortle a bit, putting his hand over his chest.
"Peter?" Eden whispered, slowly opening her eyes. When she looked at him, she saw his face begin to turn red from lack of oxygen, his eyes watering with tears.
"Peter...Peter! What's happening?" She cried frantically, watching in complete and utter horror as the man she loved collapsed onto the floor. She started screaming for help, crawling over to him to rest his head in her lap.
"Peter! Stay with me! Someone help!" Eden screamed, tears falling down her cheeks in pools. In that moment, Pans eyes slowly began to flutter closed, his pulse becoming slower and slowly.
Within a moment of weakness...Peter Pan was dying...
