Walking through the hallways was never easy for me. I looked down at my shoes hearing voices all around me. They were hushed, quiet, but I knew that they were talking about me. All the mistakes that I have done. All the mistakes that I haven't done. All the mistakes that I will do.
Being judged was never a felt good.
I continued to look down at the floor. My weary eyelids were about to close. When was the last time that I slept? I don't remember. No matter how much I tried to sleep I couldn't. Nightmares would wake me up again. So, I just stopped trying. Lost in my thought, I bumped into a person. Me being the weak and pathetic human I am, fell over.
"You ok?" The stranger asked.
Ok? You think I'm ok? Do I look ok to you?
My grades have been dropping. I'm being threatened of being kicked out of school. Which is funny. Nobody would've expected the school's honor student to drop down so low. But, I just didn't care anymore. Me, who cared too much, started to care too little.
I can't remember the last time I've slept. I can't remember the last time that I had a decent meal. The last time that I actually had an appetite for food. I can't remember the last time I smiled. A truthful smile. I can't remember the last time I had fun.
I can't remember.
I can't remember the last time I did anything from the moment my sister died. I wish that I could forget. I wish I could forget how she helplessly called my name. The panicked look on her face as she fell from that cliff. How I stood there, frozen. I couldn't do anything except watch. Watch as her life ended right before my eyes.
I snapped out of my thoughts to realize that the stranger was still staring at me, waiting for a response.
I forced my lips to curve up into a smile.
"I'm fine."
