K so I was meant to update the day after the last one but that never happened...???

Skylar's POV

"Mom are you being serious right now?" I said as I watched her wrap a scarf round her neck and pull on her coat.

"Yes Skylar I'm being serious. You can't go out with Shawn tonight especially when you have to study." She picked up her purse and started pacing towards the door.

"Mom!" I whined following her.
"You're going out tonight."

"Skylar, please, I'm only meeting a friend for a meal." She searched around for her car keys in a hurry.

"Are you sure?" I wasn't going to let this slip.

"What is with all the questions young lady." She sighed then sighed again in relief now that she'd found the car
keys.

"You've got your red dress on, mom, that can only mean one thing."

"Oh yeah, and what's that?"

"They're not a friend." I mumbled.

"See you later, sky." She kissed the top off my forehead then waved as she left.

I watched as her car drove off. It's not that I don't want her to be with someone new, because I do, it's just I don't want her to get hurt again. I'm sure whoever she's going on this meal with is probably a dickhead but then again there is a part of me that still has hope. I let out a big sigh as I dropped onto the couch.

Shawn:
What time am I picking you up?

Skylar:
Forget it. Mom's not letting me anymore.

Shawn:
:(

Skylar:
She's out with a 'friend'

Shawn:
Oh right yeh... A 'friend'

Skylar:
And she said I have to study too

Shawn:
WOW sounds like you've got your night sorted then, have fun

Skylar:
I hate u

Shawn:
I hate u too

Skylar:
Ft me

Shawn:
Okay

"What's up?" Shawns smiley face appeared on my phone screen. I could see he was laid in his bed with his earphone in.

"Don't even start." I rolled my eyes and laughed. He sat up and adjusted the camera and that's when I noticed he was shirtless. No big deal, right? For god sake I've had baths with him as a kid but now that we're kind of together I couldn't help but feel my cheeks blush.

"Do you have any idea who your mom could be out with?" He questioned raising an eyebrow.

"Nope. She hasn't mentioned anyone previously to tonight so I can't know them. I just hope there not a dick." Shawn laughs but I stay deadly serious.

"Sky, c'mon, your mom isn't stupid." He tried to reassure me.

"I know. I know, it's just that I don't want her wasting her time catching feelings for the wrong kind." Shawn looked up at me and stared right at me.

"Sounds like someone I know." He turns over on his bed so he's in his side.

"What do you mean?" I'm confused and I don't know what he's getting at.

"You and Ethan, Skylar." That's when it clicks. "I didn't like seeing you waste your time on the wrong kind."

"Oh. Omg your moms not wrong. I am getting more like you everyday." I pretend to sound surprised but he isn't fooled.

"Skylar, listen, maybe you should think of something else and forget about it." I can tell he knows I'm overthinking. It's just my mom. Out with a friend.

"You know what, Yeh, you're right. I should think of something else... hey when's your next hockey game?"

"Next Friday. Are you thinking of coming?"

"Yes of course I am!"

"I can't take you though, that's the only problem because I have to be there an hour early before the game starts."

"That's fine I'll get my mom to take me."

In the background noise of Shawn's audio I can hear Aaliyah screaming at him. What has he done now?

"Omg Shawn you can't just come into my room!"

Shawn tries to hide his smirk but can't help but laugh. "Jeez. I haven't been in your room. Calm down!"

"Then how do you explain why all my Austin Mahone posters have mustaches and beards?... oh hi Skylar!"

"Hey Aaliyah." I hide behind a pillow trying not to laugh out loud.

"Okay well I better go." Shawn stands up and starts walking to Aaliyah's room.

"Bye Mendes."

"Bye Sky."

I sigh and put my phone down. God that boy is something else. I lounge around on the sofa, channel surfing until I find something half decent. I make myself some popcorn and I spend the next few hours watching t.v. I know I should be studying but eh, I'll do it later...

"Thank you I've had a great night." I wake up to some muffled voices outside. I notice I must of already turned the t.v of, probably in my sleep. I check my phone to see what time it is. 11pm.

"Yeh, me too. We should do it again sometime." That's the voice of my mom. I run to the door and put my ear against it hoping I might recognize the other voice. Unfortunately I don't.

"We definitely should. I'd love to spend more time with you." He seems genuine but I'm not making any final accusations based on a voice I can hear through a door.

"Yes. Same goes for me. Well I should head in, thanks for the ride home."

"No problem. I'm glad I could help, I'll sort the flat tire out as soon as possible." Woah back up. Ok so my mom leaves in her car comes back in the mystery 'friends' car because hers has a flat tire.

"Thank you. Good night, Thomas." So that's his name. Thomas.

"Good night, Rachel."

I run back to the sofa and pretend to be asleep. My mom comes in, kicks of her heels and places a kiss on my forehead. "Good night, Sky."

I know it's really long but there is more if the plot coming into play now so it needed to be a bit longer.

Thanks for being patient with how often I update. It's just I have school and stuff so it's kinda hard to find a good balance.

Bye
