I see you, you see me

No need to say a word

As the night drifts away

We talk with our eyes

"We had just put Stefan in the cellar and locked him up, me and Damon. We will have to 'clear his mind of the taste and smell of human blood until his fascinating but totally dangerous vamp-self doesn't overwhelm him' as said by Damon. So I guess he means we will have to keep Stefan under observation for a while. I think I am going to stay for a bit."

"So you are quoting Damon's words now?!"—Caroline shrieked.

What is she even talking about?

"Care, I am not doing this with you... I have no idea of what you are talking about. "I replied. I am too tired today to do this with her now.

"Okay... but are you staying to check on Stefan?" or ... of course I knew the hidden question in this. "I mean I am sure Damon can handle him, much better than you in this state."

"But I want to be there for him." I reasoned.

"Which him?"

"Caroline," I said in the calmest tone possible right now.

"Elena." She replied back just as calmly. "I am just worried about you. Are you even sure of what you are getting yourself into?"

Not really.

"Elena, you have a normal family, normal friends, a normal life without vampires, witches and all that stuff."

I sighed. "Hey, I know you care about me. But I am already too much into this to look back. My life is not normal anymore. Nothing is normal anymore." I sighed again. "And as of now, you really don't need to worry about me being with Damon. He will not hurt me."

He never will, I am sure of that.

"Elena," now she sighed. "It's you I am worried about. Can you handle yourself?"

"Caroli—"I could not finish my sentence as a masculine hand swiftly pulled the phone away from my hands.

"Greetings Blondie. I am sure whatever it is you have to say to Elena can be easily rescheduled. You know, a little busy here."

I would recognize this voice anywhere. He was right behind me, my back touching his chest, his breath on my neck...regardless of our inappropriate closeness he did not move but continued bickering with my now infuriated friend.

"Nope."

"Not my problem. Look Barbie —"

"A little busy here right now. Like I said, I am sure whatever you have to say to her can be rescheduled."

"Yup, will do."

"Sure."

And before Caroline had the chance to say anything else he cut the call. He still hadn't moved an inch.

"A very talkative friend you have indeed. She wouldn't shut up!" He said with a soft chuckle. He is trying to make this better if that is even possible.

"I was talking to her Damon," I said slowly. As soon as I said it he appeared in front of me in an instant and studied my face carefully. He could tell I was tired.

"Really? — oh, I know that Elena," he whispered my name in a way only he could. "I just didn't think you wanted to." He smiled his cocky smile.
