I knew August since 7th grade. I'm in love with him. "Aye Claire give me my pencil."
"No August."
"I'ma count to five. And it better be in my hand."
I'm 17 and August is 18. Prom is next week and I then already turned down about 6 dudes, just waiting for August to ask.
"1, 2, 3, 4, 5. That's it ask to go to bathroom." August said
I raised my hand not for August but I really had to use the bathroom. When I came out August was standing by the door. "Creep."
He grabbed my waist. "Stop. I've been waiting for you to ask me to prom and you haven't asked."
"I was planning to ask KhaLani but she going with somebody else but yeah you my date to the prom."
"No. I'm not. You should ask."
"Claire would you be my date to the prom?"
"No not romantic."
"Claire I love you and can you please be my date to the prom?"
"Not romantic."
"Girl you trippin."
"Yes August. I'll be your prom date."
"I was gon ask yo home girl."
"Who? Maddie?"
"Yeah."
I walked back into the classroom. August is starting to piss me off. Class was over and I gave KhaLani my car keys. "I'm going to get pizza for tonight."
"Who all coming?" KhaLani asked
"August and his crew."
"You might wanna get about 5 then."
I started laughing. "See you later."
I got in August car. "You still mad at me?"
I nodded. August got a phone call from his mom
August: Hey mama
August mom: Hey. What are you doing?
August: Hangin with Claire. You need me?
August mom: No. You should date Claire she's a keeper
August: I don't like her like that
August mom: Oh really? You talk about her everyday non-
August: Bye ma I gotta go
I started laughing. "So you like me?"
"Nah."
"Cool."
"Yeah."
