Ethan's POV

Shit I can't wait to meet him. I can't wait to tell him all about what happened today. I can't wait to hear his laugh and call me stupid like he usually does.

I'm referring to my childhood friend Adam Zeniro.

I first met him when I was 7. Our parents seemed to know each other even before they moved here, so Adam and I ended up playing together. We used to play Marco-Polo a lot, but one day, something happened to him, which changed everything.

*Flashback*- Author's POV

Ethan and Adam were at the small playground which connected their two neighbourhoods together.

"Let's play Marco-Polo", Ethan suggested enthusiasticly.

Adam started to fidget around.

"I have something to tell you", Adam shyly said as he bent down to the sandbox and picked up two small pebbles.

"What is it?"

"The last time we played, I-I peeked", Adam admitted.

"THAT'S NOT FAIR", Ethan shouted. Adam flinched slightly.

Ethan was actually not mad at all, how could he be mad at his friend whom he loved so much. Ethan knew that he loved Adam the first moment he laid eyes on him. The way Adam hid behind his mother on their first greeting. The way Adam smiled at him showing off the gaps between his teeth. He adored every small thing about him. He knew that boys were meant to fall in love with girls, but he didn't. Knowing that he was different from the others, he kept quiet about his feelings towards his best friend.

"I'm not mad at you", Ethan said slowly and stroked Adam's cheek slightly. Adam shivered at his touch.

Ethan started to think on what he should do to make the game fair.

"I know", Ethan started.

"We'll put a sack on our heads, then no one can cheat".

"O-ok", Adam replied softly.

Ethan ran all the way back home, with Adam's hand in his and searched for a sack. He found one inside one of the cupboards and grinned in satisfaction.

The two ran back to the playground and started to play their game.

"I'll go first", Adam suggested.

Ethan covered Adam's head with the sack and told Adam to count until 10.

"One-", Adam started.

Ethan ran all the way cross the street and leaned behind a lamp post.

"Ten!", Adam yelled out.

Ethan looked behind the lamp post and saw Adam waving his hands around, trying to find Ethan.

"Marco!", Adam yelled out.

"Polo", Ethan gave a small giggle.

Adam ran straight to the direction where he heard Ethan's voice, as soon as he started to run across the road, a car immediately hit him.

Adam collapsed on to the ground, blood started to seep out of the sack.

Ethan stood behind the lamp post, frozen, watching his best friend in horror.

The driver got out of the car and pulled off the sack from Adam's head, revealing his pale face. His hair was matted with blood and his eyes were closed.

After that incident, everything was a blur for Ethan. Adam was admitted to the hospital and was in coma for 2 weeks. The impact of the hit was so hard, it messed up with Adam's nerves, making him unresponsive in most situations.
