Nate
Dropping her off a block away from her house was a weird request, but I never questioned it. I ended up driving her home everyday, except on Friday I had practice for Count Me In after school.
"Hey, you can come along with me if you like." We were talking over lunch.
"Oh. Sure, I guess, as long as I'm back home by nine."
"I can do that. Hunters gonna come with though, so it won't be just us in the car."
"I'm fine with that."
Cristina
Me, Nate, and Hunter were in the car driving to where Count Me In met up. When we got there we were greeted by a boy wearing a shirt with rainbow dash on it.
"Hey Nate. Whose this?" He asked.
"This is Cristina. Cristina, meet Andy. He's our bassist." We shook hands.
"We practice in there." He said, pointing to the garage we had parked in front of. "Come on, Amanda will murder us if we're any more late."
We walked into the garage, me, Nate, and Hunter. We were greeted by a blonde girl screaming at us.
"Guys! What's your excuse this time! Andy, you live here and still manage to be late! Wh-" her sentence cut off as she saw me. "Nate, whose this!?"
"My friend Cristina." He answered calmly.
"Why is she here!?"
"Because I said she could come."
"Fine, let's just practice. We've already lost fifteen minutes 'cuz you two were late, like usual."
"Sorry Amanda." Nate and Andy apologized.
"Whatever."
They practiced for a while, until around six. Then we went out for dinner. Then we went back to Andy's place to hang out and talk for a while. When I checked my watch it said 8:53.
"Aw shoot. Nate, can you give me a ride home?"
"Of course!" He said and we went out to his car. We were in such a hurry to get home that he forgot to drop me off at the corner like he usually did.
When I walked in I was greeted by my mom shouting at me.
"Cristian! Who was that boy!"
"A friend of mine."
"What did I tell you! Remember what happened last time."
"He's trustworthy mom! He helped me out when I was new at school!"
"Your still grounded tomorrow. If not for getting a ride with a stranger, then for being out after curfew."
I wanted to argue, but I knew it would only get me deeper in trouble. "Yes mom." I said with a sigh. And with that I went to bed, hoping tomorrow would be better.
