The Makeover is a cliche wattpad story, written by Loitita which follows the life of Rosaline Summers, who is an orphan. Her primary caretaker is a friend of her father's and she lives with her cousin Emily, who is a sister figure in her life.
To tell you a bit about Rosalines character, she's a generally sarcastic person but she's kind of a nerd at the school she goes to. I'm guessing the author wanted Rosaline to come off as a bit quirky and relatable but I'm not sure she succeeded in that Endeavour.
Some of the cliches I noticed in the book are that the mean girl, Karin or somebody is essentially a blonde Bimbo which a little stereotypical.
The romantising of bad boys is a bit disturbing, considering the message of the book was essentially against bullying.
I feel like the charactar, Flynn, was a bit hypocritical because he immediately apologised after Rosaline's glow up.
While I admit the nerdy girl cliche has been used several times, I dislike girls with glasses being the before of every make over. Makeup is a source of empowerment , but wearing some doesn't transform you magically or make you a blonde Bimbo, which I found was kind of slut shaming but I guess I just pick up on those kind of things a lot.
I dint lie how self harming was dealt with either as it is a very serious subject in general.
I liked the ease of the writer, and the author notes were cute. They were uplifti band you felt like the author was your best friend.
I like the General idea but I think it needs a little more structure, depth, drama, themes, mood, description and such.
You coukd tell the author was excited abiut the project which I love as enthusiasm can go a Long way.
I think the books rating was 3 stars out of 5, and 5.5 stars out of ten. Other than that, fantastic book! Good job! I hope to see your other books in the future asap!
