Mount Everest is not the tallest mountain in the world.
The world's highest mountain is actually Chimborazo ,not Everest, Chimborazo is a stratovolcano in Ecuador that's part of the Andes mountain range - because it's the furthest point from Earth's centre and, therefore, the highest in terms of distance.
Everest isn't even the highest mountain, either, because Hawaii's Mauna Kea stretches a lot higher – it just does a lot of that under the sea
