Intro: Chapter 1

I honestly don't know exactly how to start this book, but It's all about my thoughts...So I'll just write down my current ones. I was thinking earlier today how I never agreed with that expression "Sticks and Stones can break my bones, But words can never hurt me." I guess it's a good outlook to have, but I think it also gives people the idea that words don't affect people. For those who have been bullied, abused or hurt...they know how much words can affect a person. How words can change everything. "It can take a few seconds to break a heart and a lifetime to repair it." I recently saw a youtube video where a girl said she bullied others online because others bullied her, and that it made her feel better to be in control. I can understand the feeling of revenge, but revenge doesn't do anything. In fact, revenge can hurt you more than it hurts the other person. The girl said she once told someone to kill themselves, and I don't think she understood how big an effect that could have on a person. The words "Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me" Is an expression to give someone strength, that others hateful words shouldn't change who you are. But it never means that what you say won't affect people. I know from personal experience how much words can hurt someone, even a light joke can affect someone else more than you know. This doesn't mean you have to watch every single word you say, but we should always be aware how our words and actions affect others.
