You simply decided to stroll to the market to purchase a few necessities, (late at night none the less) and on your way back home through Snowdin, the snow began to plummet more quickly and the wind howled with great ferocity. You were equipped with boots, a winter coat and jeans; perfect for a regular cold day, not for a sudden blizzard. Your frozen hands clutched the plastic grocery bags, you were sincerely considering just abandoning your groceries just so you can stick your bare hands into your pockets. You heavily trekked through the rapidly stacking snow; feeling disoriented, nervous and gelid. Being blinded by the darkness and the snow, you couldn't tell where you were, or how far you were from home. You were becoming more anxious and more stiff by the minute, you were beginning to think that you were completely lost and was going to freeze to death. "No, I'm okay...I'm okay...I just have to keep walking...I'm probably almost there anyway."
Minutes passed by...before you saw a light through the flurries, probably a house. Your heart raced as hope began to fill your veins, maybe they will let you in! As you got closer, you realized it was Grillby's Diner. Completely overwhelmed with relief, you dropped your grocery bags into the thick blanket of snow and staggered to the door. You snatched the icy doorknob, but it was locked. Dread began to drip from your chest as you realized that Grillby's was closed by now. You pounded on the door as hard as you could. "Grillby...please...answer!" You wanted to yell but you were so cold your jaw clacked uncontrollably, making it impossible to form sensible words. Just then, the door swung open; Grillby stood in the doorway, you nearly sobbed with relief.
His eyes immediately widened, he grasped your arms and pulled you in. You stumbled a few steps before slipping. Grillby caught you before your hips even hit the floor. He slipped an arm under your legs and scooped you up. You shivered violently as he held you close, relocked the entrance and swiftly hurried across the diner to a door in the back. You felt yourself being carried up some stairs, another door opening, and entering his apartment.
He gently placed you on his couch, he crouched in front of you and began to quickly remove your boots and socks. The warm air in the apartment and Grillby's hands caused goosebumps to ripple over your skin, your mouth still chattering as he unzipped your soggy coat, slipped it off your shoulders and tossed it aside absently. He suddenly stood up and rushed to another room. You moved your eyes to look around, it was a tidy apartment, unsurprisingly. Grillby came back, pulling you out of your daze, holding a blanket, a shirt and pants in his arms. He placed them on the couch beside you before crouching once more. He lifted his hands to the waistband of your jeans. You gasped, weakly grabbed his wrist and whimpered. No, it was too embarrassing. Grillby looked up at you. His gaze was anxious and asking for trust, he only cared for your well-being. You emitted a shaky sigh. Of course you trusted him, he was one of your closest friends. You let go of his wrist. You turned your face away and shut your eyes as you felt him unbutton your waistband and heard the zipper being pulled down. Your damp jeans were tugged off of your legs, exposing them to warmth, causing another wave of goosebumps to appear before you felt a dry pair of pants being shuffled up your thighs. You hesitantly lifted your hips so he could slip them on all the way. You then felt him grasp your shirt's hem, you willingly lifted your arms up as he pulled the shirt off. You took notice that his cheeks were lightly blue, the poor guy was probably just as embarrassed as you were. He slipped a clean shirt over your head and arms before grabbing the blanket and wrapping you in it. He scooped you into his arms once more, and sat down on the couch with you in his lap, cradling you closely. You pressed your face in his chest out of embarrassment, you focused on trying to warm up. Some time passed, the light sounds of his flames crackling and popping soothes your shaking soul. Your clacking mouth has slowed down and shivering has turned into light trembling as you felt his heat melt your frozen body. "...T...thank you." You mumbled gratefully into his chest. He must have heard you as he started to stroke your damp hair. You looked up at him, locking eyes with his. "I'm...so sorry... about all this..." You apologized sadly. Grillby shook his head and held you more tightly, placing his chin on top of your head. You lifted your hands and gingerly held onto the arm that coiled around your back and sighed contently. You smiled when his flames brightened.
More time passed, you felt the stress that you felt only a while ago take its toll on your body. You were exhausted, you did your best to stay awake; when Grillby unwrapped his arm from around you. You looked up at him, and before you could ask what was the matter...he lightly pressed his thumb onto your lips...before removing it. You were a little taken back, "Ooh...um, is something wrong with my mouth?" You asked. Grillby cupped your cheek, making you flinch is surprise. "Grill...by?" You softly spoke. He didn't do anything, he just...stared at you. You felt shy, but you couldn't bring yourself to turn away...so you gazed back. You felt him move his other hand to the back of your head, still cupping your cheek...he slowly started to lean in. Your heart began to race, you kept still, unsure of what he was planning to do. Your breath hitched when his hot lips met your cool ones. You closed your eyes and quietly moaned. The kiss lasted only a few moments and ended with a soft *smooch* sound. Your eyes fluttered back open, gazing at the blue-blushing bartender. "...(Y/N)..." He spoke. You faintly gasped. That was the first time he ever spoke to you...his voice sounded deep...and smooth, like smoke and honey. "Y-yes?" "...May I...court you?" Your whole body was flushed hot now, no way you were cold anymore.
"Absolutely." You sighed heavenly. He hummed happily before leaning in and kissing you once more. Oh, how you wished you could have kissed longer, but you pulled back to let out a long yawn. Grillby chuckled, he wrapped his arms around you and stood up. You lazily draped your arms over his shoulders and nestled you face into his neck.
"You can sleep in my bedroom tonight." He offered strolling with you in his arms. "Oh, no, Grillby, I don't want to take your bed...you have already... *yawn*...done so much for me." You slurred drowsily. "I insist." He finalized. When Grillby stood beside his bed, he realized that you had already fallen asleep. A warm chuckle left him as he delicately laid you upon the bed and pulled the covers over you. He smoothed your hair out of your face before leaning in and kissing your head.
"Goodnight, (Y/N)."
