The next day, Daisy, Sara, their families, and the royals scoured the city to see if anyone was hurt in the earthquake. Daisy and Sara had Sofia and Hugo with them when they went to see the library only to find that half of it was destroyed.
"The library is destructed," Sofia gaped.
"So far, we haven't found out if anyone was hurt," Sofia said.
Suddenly, Amelia's voice rang out, "Hi, Daisy." She was with Rocio, Yvette, and Cecelia. "What are you doing?"
"We're scouring the city to see if anyone was hurt in that earthquake yesterday," Daisy replied. Then she noticed that the quartet was sad. "What's wrong?"
"We want to apologize for the way we treated you since you came here," Rocio said. "We were just jealous."
Daisy was surprised to hear that. "But why?" she asked.
"You're right—we are young women, and we should behave maturely, but it's easy for you to mature," Yvette claimed. "We want to mature, but nothing has happened to us."
"Plus, we want things to change, but they never did change for us," Cecelia chimed in. "It was easy for things to change for you."
Now Daisy understood the real reason her friends snubbed her when she returned. They envied how things changed for her and not them—but it seemed like they didn't understand how it happened.
"Chicas, changes don't happen all of a sudden—people make them happen," Daisy explained. "I became more mature because I chose to, and Sara and I applied and trained to be rescuers at the tiger park."
"You're saying we have to make things change and not just wait for them to happen?" Amelia asked.
"That's right," Daisy confirmed. "For the first 21 years of our lives, we wanted Shuriki to leave Avalor alone, and Sofia made that happen for us."
Daisy's old friends realized how silly they'd been acting, and they felt terrible that they made her feel bad.
"We've been so childish," Amelia sighed.
"And lazy," Rocio chimed in.
"Hey, you can still make some changes, starting right here, right now," Daisy smiled. Her friends smiled, agreeing with her.
