Clarice Framon
Clarice hadn't left her house until her second year of high school. Until then, she had been home-schooled and under high protection. She had always understood why, and although she constantly whined about not having "real friends" since she didn't count the help or the family company's employees- she had never fought with her Grandfather about it. She did fight with her nanny, though, and her teacher, and her minder. Her minder, up until she was seven, was her Grandfather's right-hand man, Mr. Rickens, a man who had left his family across the country to wait on Clarice's Grandfather hand and foot.
When Clarice was seven, she was given a bodyguard. The household had referred to him as her "little friend" so as not to frighten her with the word "bodyguard," and she hadn't known any better until much later. She assumed the boy and his family were working for her Grandfather, and the boy had been ordered to play with her. She was ecstatic the day he arrived. She had been jumpy the whole morning and her teacher had scolded her three times, but she didn't care; she was finally getting a friend!
Then, he walked in. A little boy of seven and a half, with big, sparkly blue eyes and thickly layered black hair. Clarice still made fun of his hair, to this day, but he liked it long. His name was Christopher Boxly and his job was to protect her. He was superhero strong, despite looking so small and skinny, as Clarice had found out when one day she followed him to the room full of equipment where he would train to protect her. He could fling those huge punching bags across the entire room. At first, he would only talk to Clarice when spoken to and always answered with two words and a "miss." He wouldn't stop until Clarice threatened to complain to her Grandfather, and even then, they only had conversations when they were alone. For nine years, the robotic Christopher was Clarice's only company.
Now, however, she was going to school in the neighborhood, with all the other kids. She had seen girls and boys, liked some boys, and even made some friends. Christopher was going to school with her, although he would only watch from a distance. Everything was perfect. The school year was over, now, and this summer, Clarice was planning to have a lot of fun.
