"I'm sorry, I—"

Jace cut me off, "It's okay... I uh, didn't know it was you."

"I was just looking for... a quiet room. Cause I don't come to parties, and my mom... Oh! she's gonna go crazy and—"

"Laurel, it's fine. I would've been mad if you were just some random girl lurking around in here. But I know you at least." he cut me off again.

"Do random girls usually lurk around in your room?" I give him a half smile. He laughs. "Don't count on it. My doors usually locked," he tells me.

"Got something to hide?" I laugh.

"Don't we all?"

I relize that I'm staring at him. I quickly look down. "Anyways, I'm sorry for lurking. But I gotta go."

"Need a ride?" He asks.

I shake my head. "No, it's fine. I mean this is your party," I pick up a book that I noticed I had dropped, and return it to it's place on the shelf. "Thanks though." I smile.

"You sure?" He questions.

"Yeah. Thank you." I look up. His eyes meet with mine.

"Okay." He nods.

I nod, then rush past him, out of his room. Stupid. Freaking freaking freaking stupid!

After my run in with Jace I went back to find Sierra. I told her I wanted to leave. It only took a minute to convince her. Guess she wasn't having such a good time here either.

After about a ten minute drive I finally arrived at my house. It was 9:32 o'clock.

"I'm sorry," Sierra said.

I gave her a questioning look. "For what?" I asked.

She sighed. "Tonight blowed, like sucked."

I laughed. "It's fine. I'm just glad I made a..." I didn't want to finish that sentence. I mean, were we friends? I don't want to seem all weird and mushy. I decide to not make it weird and just finish what I was going to say. "I'm just glad I made a friend." I smile.

"Me too," She smiles back.

I look down at my watch. "I need to go, my mom is going to be so mad at me." I tell her goodnight and exit her car. I'm not even even to the door, but I see it opening.

Oh no. Here it goes.

I walk up to the door, and I'm taken aback at who I see. Leaving my house is the the lady who was watching me in detention...

She walks past me, not even acknowleding me.

What is going on? Who is she? This time I'm getting answers from my mom.

"Laurel, get inside now! We need to talk."
