The first photo was accidental. I was taking a picture of a sunset on a mountain road to send to my friend. The sunset orange dominated the sky, working with a light pink to blend in swirls. Just as I clicked the shutter Alexander walked in front of me. He didn't know he was in the photo but the way he walked you would've thought he did. He walked with his hands in his pockets and his head held high. I at first was disappointed the picture had been ruined, but now as I look at it, I just think about how the background complements Alexander's stance.

...

I looked back on my phone screen to see the photo I had just taken to notice that it had accidentally been photo-bombed. I looked back up into the sky to realize all of the colors had faded into a rather dark blue, starting to expose the stars from their hiding.

I was annoyed. Very annoyed. That day was my last day in upstate New York, and where I was going surely wouldn't have sunsets like that.

"Hey!" I caught up with the man.

He turned around. I felt foolish about pursuing him for an accident but at the same time, I wanted him to at the least apologize.

"What do you want?" As he turned to meet my eyes I caught a glimpse of hurt there.

Underneath this guy's facade, he is just sad...

"I-I just wanted to ask if you're okay."

Real smooth John, he probably is fine and you just think he's sad. You don't know him!

"Is it that obvious..?" He sighed and his shoulders slumped in defeat. "But why would you want to know?"

Snap. Good question. "Because I'm curious... Can't I be a bit friendly?"

His eyes softened. "Yeah, okay..." He looked at me as if he were embarrassed to say it, "Girl problems."

"Huh?"

"My girlfriend. She's... a real drama queen sometimes. She just told me to 'get lost'. The thing is she'll just come back again begging me and... I don't know what to do when that happens."

I personally had never loved girls. I mean, a few times I'd like to be friends with one but that's as far as our relationship would go. But I knew that didn't sound like a healthy relationship and I wanted to help this guy out.

"Well... I'm no love expert but it almost sounds as if she's taking advantage of you."

"How?"

"Well... She seems to only like your company when she wants it. She'll expect you to drop everything and go to her when she wants it, but also expect you to disappear despite your own emotions."

He nodded painfully. "Sounds right... well, what should I do than?"

"Go ahead and explain things to her, and see if she cares. If she does and apologizes, then it's your choice of what happens afterward. If not, you're better off without her."

"Thanks." He smiled and held out his hand for me to shake. "Name's Alexander."

I shook his hand. "Nice to meet you, I'm John."
