After the almost unbearable day of school, I finally got home and collapsed onto the sofa in the living room.

"Busy day?" My mom chuckled as she peaked her head around the corner at me.

"No, just had to deal with angsty, hormonal teenagers all day, they're horrible..." I replied sarcastically.

Except Hiro of course...

"You're a teenager too you know" mom replied from the laundry.

"I'm 17, almost an adult" I frowned, she just laughed in response, I just grumbled and went up to my room.

Opening the door to my room and closing it behind me, I flopped onto my bed and grabbed the laptop that I left on the drawer beside me prior.

Logging in, I go onto wattpad, the only website I consider my life, not that Facebook or Instagram like most people nowadays...

Why is this generation so dissapointing?

I went into my library and went through until I finally found a story I was in the mood to read.

Clicking on the story, I began to read the first chapter.

*time skip*

I was now on the 56th chapter of the story and it was dark outside.

But to my surprise, I felt my eyes began to slant, and I let out a loud yawn.

The sudden feeling of tiredness overwealmed me, looking at the time on the laptop. It was only 7:42pm.

Well, a little sleep until dinner couldn't hurt...

So I gave in and logged off my computer, putting it on top of my drawer.

I pulled the blankets over me and closed my eyes. I fell asleep almost instantly.

*later that night*

I woke up feeling groggy from the sleep I had just now and sat up from my bed, I looked over to my phone and turned it on.

I slanted my eyes as the bright beam of light almost blinded me, however I read the time to be 11:55pm. My eyebrows furrowed at this confusion.

Something's wrong... Mom always wakes me up for dinner...

I sat up and opened the door to my room and closed it behind me, all the lights were still on...

Mom and dad always turn the lights off before going to bed, something is very wrong...

As I began to fear the worst, I crept down the stairs to see my parents sitting beside each other watching television. I breathed a heavy sigh of relief, the adrenaline instantly died down.

"Mom, Dad, it's almost 12, why are you both still awake?" I chucked jokingly.

However, I was only met with an eerie silence from the two, maybe they didn't hear me?

"Hey mom, dad?" I tried again to get their attention, feeling the panic begin to rise in me again, my heart began to pound faster.

I walked over to tap my father's
shoulder. Nothing, he was cold to the touch.

Having enough of this, I walked in front of them to have the image before me being burned into my memory forever.

They both leaned against each other, but covered in bullet holes as blood seeped from their mouths.

Who could have done this?! My parents never did anything bad enough for someone to want them dead!

Panicked, I sprinted down the long hallway to my 6 month old brother's room.

And when I got to his baby crib, he had a bullet hole on the left side of his chest, where his little heart is.

What sick bastard did this?!

I left the room to find my 10 year old sister, I prayed that she was still alive, that she's just frightened and hiding somewhere.

But when I reached her room, she was shot so many times, the blood stained almost a quarter of the carpet and smeared up the wall and curtain. Blood seeping from the bullet holes, her mouth, ears and even eyes, the look of terror stuck on her face.

I walked outside of the room as I felt the vomit rise into my through and out onto the floor. Unable to handle the sights I have seen tonight.

Now THIS has to be a nightmare, there's no way-

However, my thoughts were disturbed when I noticed a figure standing at the end of the hallway. I didn't hesitate to make a run for it, however, the back door is jammed shut and always has been, and the figure stood too close to the front doorway. So the only way out was though a window.

However all the windows in the house had security screens. Except one.

My room!

I ran up the stairs, taking the steps two at a time and ran for my bedroom, however I had to be quick, no doubt the culprit was following me and my room didn't have a lock on the door.

But just to my luck, the window decided to be hard to open.

"Come on! Open, open open!" I yelled at the window, but I did not open, no matter how hard I tried.

As I heard the footsteps ascend up the staircase. I slid my back down the wall and cried into my hands.

This is it... I'm going to die...

The footsteps were in the hallway now, they got closer, however I managed to muffle my cries. But it wasn't enough, because the culprit had opened the door to my room, seeing me in the corner of the room.

And now he was standing by the moonlit window, I could see his face clearly. He had splatters of blood on him but I could easily identify this person.

My eyes widened at the realisation, that my family's murderer... Is my high school crush?!
