As you reach across the table to replace and empty bottle of ketchup, You notice a tip left there by one of your customers. Rin was hired as a cleaning man so that he could keep an eye on you. In the past three days you have gotten about thirty five messages from Mel, All of which Rin checked over before letting you read. He somehow knew what messages would set you off and what would practically kill you, also what would just make you set down your phone and turn your head. If the message wasn't at the very least neutral, He would tell you a sugar coated version of what the thing actually said. Usually just something like it was your fault and you should have been better. When these things are said to you, You usually find yourself cursing her under your breath. You reach over to wipe down the side of a table going to the window. You had already informed the post office that you changed your address.
When you check the mailbox the first Sunday of every month, a disability check and a newspaper is waiting for you. Grabbing the paper and the envelope, you head back inside. There was another letter that was hand written. Rin about half grabbed it from you and read it to himself. Then handed it to you.
"It's good Y/N."
Your response was a nod. You opened the check and put it in your wallet. you had about five checks you needed to cash. there were a few things stopping you. One, you had your apron on and two, the bank only seemed to be open on your work days anymore. But tomorrow was the party that your old landlord invited you to. Ton already said he was going but that also means that Rin had to go as well. His job wasn't just to keep you two apart but it was also to protect you both.
"Y/N!" Ton raced out of the office. this was the place where he did the bills, wrote checks and whatnot. He had a check in his hands which immediately transferred to your shirt pocket. You pulled it out and looked at it. the numbers 500 and a dollar sign stared back at you. You practically jumped as you raced to tackle your best friend in a hug. The only way to cash these is to go to the party and stop as the bank on the way. the party was only coming tomorrow night.
Right now it was five and you needed to eat something yourself before you caught some shut-eye. Ton prepared something simple. It looked like ramen noodles but the noodles were longer. The spices were synchronized perfectly. The sheer texture of the soup made it slide right down your throat. You found yourself licking the bottom of the bowl. Something You haven't did in about ten years. You asked Ton what was in it.
"Well, the juice is made of Chicken Powder and a few other spices I can't name that was thrown in water. the noodles are standard spaghetti noodles."
Rin and Yourself dared not swallow the next bite. you both knew very well that when Ton says "Spices I can't name," it means he doesn't know what they were. The last time he made that mistake you ended up in the hospital because his response to the same question was "I can't name the spice." You asked him what was on the bottle. He told you "I think it had a skull with a dead mouse." You both froze and spit it out. but you still got food poisoning.
Ton came back holding two bottles of something still unidentified to you. He clashed them on the table. "OK. One is Saffron and the other is Bacon Bits. it's safe." You and Rin immediately started chowing down again with a sense of security.
Rin was out with his face right next to his bowl within the time lapse of five minutes. You decided to turn in as well. Ton said he had something he needed to do before he turned in. You went and carried Rin up by yourself. you flopped down on your bed and immediately fell asleep.
