As the words came back, I could only think that was called a 'name', and that it was mine.

When I entered the tree filled area, little creatures ran around my feet and flew into the trees.

It was quite the scene and it comforted me. I started to remember little things and what they were called, for instance, like the little creatures I saw.
The ones I saw on the ground were called squirrels, and the ones flying were called birds. I also remembered hunger and thirst, I was starving. I needed to find civilization of some sort.

I saw grayish looking clouds then it came to me. Smoke. That meant a village. My walking pace got a little faster, and the more I looked up and saw the smoke, the more my hunger grew. Now I was running.
When I got close to the village, the smoke seemed to have grown, and not in a cooking fest kind of way, but... in a destructive kind of way.
I finally got in view of the village, and the sight horrified me. The whole village was burned and torn down. Only a few buildings remained but was severely damaged.

This doesn't look like a simple fire accident... something destroyed this village.

I walked through the village and found no survivors. I saw a shattered mirror, I used this opportunity to see what I looked like. I carefully picked up a piece and was staring at my reflection. I had vibrant red eyes. I admired my eyes till I heard a small crash inside one of the damaged remaining buildings. I picked up a stick and started to slowly make my way to the building.

Wonder whats in there..

I stood beside the door way building my courage up. I swiftly slide inside the door and held the stick up ready to defend myself. What I saw surprised me. It was a girl that looked my age, but was short. She looked up at me with scared eyes. She had light brown hair that went about half an inch past her shoulders. There was a small pastel green ribbon in her hair. She had beautiful green eyes. She had on a ripped dress. Other than looking dirty and a little injured she was cute.
"D-Don't.. H-Hurt me!"
When she spoke it sent words through my mind, reminding me how to speak.
"Don't worry, I'm not here to hurt you.."
"..."
she just stared at me, still with a scared expression.
I reached my hand out to help her. She took it and she stood up. She was pretty short.
"What's your name?"
"M-My name is Emerald.." she said sounding a little more brave.
