Not sure what days I'll be updating throughout the week but I do want to try updating at least twice a week. So without further ado, here's chapter two!
Btw, her name is pronounced 'sha-reese' :)

| Chapter 2- Charise |
A fresh start. That's all I want. Not that I necessarily need it, but I'm a girl, a woman actually, who can't seem to stay in one location for a long time. I have this feeling, more like this urge, that calls me from my current home and to go somewhere else. I can't explain it, but whenever I find myself settling, there's this nagging thought that tells me, 'go, not here' and I go.
I look up out the window to see the new state I'd be living in. I rented my new home already, something small and quaint, just for me, in a slightly remote part of town, far enough from the noise but close enough to get my groceries. I smile softly to myself as soft music floats around my car in a tender way.
I take a look at the small town. It's not big like my old hometown. In fact, it might as well be barely half the population...if even. But that's fine. I have a feeling that this was it. My last stop. I feel this thrumming feeling in my chest as I drive by, taking in the sights.
Lakes and forests make up the town giving it a storybook feel. I feel the excitement build up as I approach my new home and a grin spreads across my face once it comes into sight. A vehicle is already in the driveway, awaiting me.
I pull up next to it before turning off my car and getting out. A woman steps out of the car next to me and flashes me a grin. Her hair is in a sloppy ponytail even though she's wearing a nice summery blouse with a black jacket and slacks.
"You must be Charise!" she exclaims as she approaches me, her heels clacking on the cement.
I stick out my hand, barely aware of my own shabby appearance next to her. I'm wearing black tights with a loose fitted top. My hair is gathered together under a baseball cap and I probably have a ketchup stain on my shirt from when I ate a burger several hundred miles back.
"And you must be Aubry," I answer as I shake her hand.
"What a pleasure to meet you," she continues with a slight southern drawl as she tucks a strand of loose hair away from her face.
"The pleasure's all mine," I chuckle.
"Well, come come! Let's show you around the place, yes?" she asks as she already leads me up the steps to the house.
From the outside, it looks like a cabin. It's wooden with a wide porch and a cute wooden gate separating the porch from the ground. The door is a heavy wooden block with a brass doorknob.
The inside, however, is quite the inviting scene. As soon as I enter, I step into the foyer that opens up to the living room with a wide hearth. Two large windows are on either side of the fireplace with thick curtains blocking out the sunlight. To my right is the kitchen which I'm sure I'll be exploring first. To my left is the hallway that leads to the two bedrooms, bathrooms, and a laundry room.
Aubry shows me around and shows me how some of the house utilities work since they seem more old fashioned. We laugh and joke during the tour before we finish back into the front yard just as the moving trucks arrive.
"You have my number if you need anything. Give me a call if you have any questions or complaints. I'll be happy to help," Aubry informs me as she stands in front of me. I nod and hug myself as an icy wind rushes by. I guess winters here are horrendous.
"I'll definitely use that to my advantage when the time comes," I reply and she flashes me another grin.
"Excellent! Also, there are very nice neighbors nearby so if you need anything else and I'm not available, they will be more than willing to assist you," she adds as a last minute thought as she moves towards her car. I nod and wave as she drives off. I then face the movers and place my hands on my hips.
"Let's set this house up!" I exclaim and I have the feeling this will be the second to last time I unload all my stuff.
