Darkness filled his vision, his dull senses disconnecting him from the world letting nothing in.

Where was he? Who was he?

These questions swirled around in his consciousness, rousing him from the dreamlike state he was in. Without warning a flood of memories rushed to his head- an unstoppable torrent snapping him into reality.

Fire.

Shattered images of fire licking everything around him, explosions booming off in the distance as they filled the area with red and white light. Closer and closer they came until finally all that filled his vision was a bright red flash emanating from a sword before his world was bathed in a bright white light...

He came to as his eyes snapped open driving away the images from his mind as he found himself floating surrounded on all sides by water. His lungs were near to bursting as the water started to press in. The inky darkness enclosed around him slowly pulling him deeper.

Unable to hold his breath for much longer he felt whatever traces of sleep remained leave him. His body reacted of its own accord and pushed him to kick upwards until the water around him started to become clearer and clearer, his head finally breaking through the water. The wet hair plastered to the side of his head felt heavy as he took in his surroundings.

He found himself facing nothing but open ocean, miles of sea stretched out before him, a sense of panic settling in the pit of his stomach.

Was he doomed to drown in the sea not knowing who he was? Where he had come from?

He quickly turned and an immediate relief at seeing the shore -not even a mile away, left him feeling better about his situation. He didn't remember much but the flashes of fire and the massive explosion making him wonder what had happened. He slowly propelled himself towards the shore, arms and legs coming to life as he moved through the water. His body seemed to remember the motions of what he had once known even if the memories were no longer with him. He swam, each wave pushing him closer and closer to the shore.

Before he knew it the shore lay before him. Clambering out of the water he stepped out into the shallows where a steep incline of sand stood in front of him. Before climbing he stopped for a quick rest letting him take a good look at his body for the first time. A long black cloak reached to his knees- or at least what used to be a cloak. As he looked down at it he saw what looked like a large cut on the fabric running down his right with a round hole resting right above his heart about the size of a fist. The rest of the cloak was tattered and badly burned and wet sand clung to the cloak in patches. A sheath for what seemed to be a sword hung at his side. It had what looked like lines on the sheath colored a dull blue almost fading away.

The heavy wet fabric weighed on him and he shrugged it off removing the sheath and throwing the ruined cloak into the ocean. This revealed a plain black tunic under with the same slash and hole as the cloak, yet his skin was unblemished with no sign of damage on his smooth skin. He walked up the incline, his soaked trousers picking up sand .

He wondered if the weapon had fallen into the ocean. Still pondering his situation he clambered up the sand seeking a better view of his surroundings. Reaching the top he expected some sort of beach but froze his gaze locked in front of him.

A smoking crater lay where there used to be a beach, the massive hole stretching on as far as his eye could see. He slowly unfroze and peered into the crater a gleam from the middle catching his eyes.

Without any thought for his safety he stepped into the crater and slid down the side. He slid gaining speed down the steep side, everything rushing past him in a blur until with a loud crash he landed at the bottom splaying the air with a huge cloud of sand.

Scrambling to his feet he seemed unhurt and took a look around for the source of the earlier gleam. There not even two feet in front of him was a sword embedded in the sand with the hilt facing up. His body felt a pull and he stepped forward his hand slowly closing around the hilt...

At the same time contact was made a blue sphere of light enclosed him. Streaks appeared on the blade and the blue light intensified, tendrils of electricity shot from the blade filling the air with static as bolts struck the ground.

Flying clumps of sand filled the air around him. Without warning the sunlight was cut off as clouds quickly covered the once blue sky as rain started to pour down in sheets. Suddenly a crackle filled the heavens loud enough to make his hair stand on end as the clouds split right down the middle. A white energy filled the split as it got brighter and brighter every second. Unable to move Amos stood there mouth agape as he looked towards the heavens. A thunderous roar shook the very ground he was standing on as the earth cracked, pieces of rock floating into the air crumbling against the intense white light growing brighter and brighter...

Suddenly there was an eerie silence lasting no more than a split second that felt like an eternity to him before a massive bolt of blue broke through twisting and turning and for a moment it took the shape of a dragon as it filled the sky. With no warning it shot down with unbelievable speed, releasing one final blast of noise as it concentrated and struck the blade in his hand. For the second time in the same day he found himself passing out once more, the familiar darkness returning.
