*Taylor's POV*

I wake up to my shadow yawning above me.

The sound makes me yawn too as I stretch my legs and arms.

"Okay," I say to no one.

Shadow just looks at me and cocks its head.

"I don't know. Don't ask." I mutter, sliding off the edge of the bed to bend down and grab a shirt off the floor.

Putting my arms through the sleeves I pull it over my head just as shadow's chilly presence is suddenly on my back.

I grab a pair of sweatpants and pull them up, shimmying my hips to pull them higher.

Stretching one last time, I walk into the kitchen and pour myself a cup of coffee.

I'm one of those weird people who like black coffee.

Yes, I like bean water.

Get over it.

Flashbacks of last night course through my mind as my eyebrows furrow in curiosity.

"We're gonna go visit her," I say out loud.

Shadow makes disagreeing noises back.

"Just to see what's up," I answer sarcastically and smile, setting my coffee cup down.

Walking back to my bedroom, I look in the mirror and pull my hair into a messy bun then walk back out. I grab a jacket off the chair in the kitchen and walk out of the house, slinging the jacket around my shoulders.

As soon as I walk into the small store the familiar smell of breakfast and the bell above me almost makes me want to buy something to eat.

Almost.

I walk straight to the employee entrance door to the kitchen and push it, the hinges squeaking as I do so.

"Hey, you're not allowed in here!" a waitress yells.

"I don't care," I say impolitely and look up and down the rows of shelves of ingredients until I find the hair and skin tone I was looking for.

"Hey!" I yell.

My voice echoes back to me off the walls as Natalie jumps and turns around, eyes big.

"T-Taylor?" she stutters.

"Why'd you stalk me last night? Hmm? Mad I wouldn't give you my shadow so you followed me home? What were you trying to prove Natalie?" I spit, inching closer to her as her hands grip the edge of the counter.

"I-I don't know what you're talking about," she says quietly, looking around at the pairs of eyes staring at us once again.

"Hmm? I had no one else stalking me, that I know of before I met you. What does that tell you?"

"Taylor?"

"Yes, Natalie?" I growl.

"I-I don't even have a car. I walk t-to work every day. I can't afford one." she whispers the last part, her head hanging in shame.

My eyes grow as big as hers once were, confusion very clear on my face.

"I didn't follow you home last night. That wasn't me," she says.

I turn on my heels and stomp out, shaking my head to try to clear all the thoughts.

If she wasn't following me, who was?

No one else had a reason to follow me before I talked to her. So it had to be her...

Right?
