Katie sighed, running her hand through her hair. She was almost on the verge of isolating herself from the world-never to be seen again. To think, she had almost kissed Ben several hours ago. It had been the most exciting time she'd experienced so far, but also the most embarrassing.

She frowns, resting her chin on her palm.

"We're just friends, right?"

Katie bites her lip and grabs her phone, scrolling through the various contacts. Stopping on one, she dials and brings the phone to her ear in time with the monotone ringing.

"I should talk this over with Cynthia.."

Meanwhile, Ben paced around in circles in Porter's bedroom.

Porter furrows is eyebrows in confusion as he watches his best friend anxiously pace around his room.

"What's wrong Ben? There's about a month left before Christmas," the blonde chirps.

"How can you stay calm? You have no idea what Naomi will do! You could've chosen the wrong girl!"

Porter crosses his arms. "Wrong girl? No, you don't get it. Naomi is the right girl. I'm positive of it."

"I almost kissed Katie alright!" Ben blurts out, his sudden loud voice surprising Porter.

The blond smirks, a plot already forming in his mind.

"So why didn't you?"

Ben turns away from the young man, red streaking across his cheeks.

"We bumped noses," he mumbled.

"Pardon?" Porter urges.

"We bumped noses!"

The blond almost instantly slaps his hand over his mouth, muffling his laugh as the elf turns back to him.

"It was a honest mistake!" Ben protests.

"Sure," Porter sarcastically puts forth between breaths.

"Okay, okay! I have a plan so you can work things out with Katie," he assures Ben after his laughter died down.

"What?"

"Just talk to her! Just like you normally do!"

"But what if things get awkward?"

"It won't get awkward! Just simply be yourself, okay?"

"But what if she doesn't forgive me?"

"She'll forgive you. I'm sure of it! So just go!"

"Fine," Ben sighs and Porter quickly pushes the elf out of his room.

Upon arriving at Katie's place, Ben fiddles his fingers in front of her door. His heart was pounding, not knowing how Katie felt about the two almost kissing, heck he wasn't even sure how he felt about it. Even so, he raises a hand and knocks.

Katie soon opens the door and her eyes widen in surprise when she sees Ben.

"Oh! Um, what are you doing here?"

"We need to talk Katie."

"Okay?" Katie moves aside, letting Ben enter and she follows him to the living room.

Ben plops down on the couch while Katie remains standing, staring at her feet.

"Okay, listen," the duo speak at once.

"No, you stop talking!"

"No you!"

"Ugh, fine!"

Ben stared at Katie intently, wondering and waiting to if or when she's going to speak.

"I love being older than you Katie," Ben finally says with a smile.

"In your dreams," Katie retorts, rolling her eyes and looking up at the fellow elf in front of her.

"What you're older by two days? Weeks?"

"Try nine and a half months for size, Ben."

They stare in silence.

"Let's just forget that it ever happened, agree?"

Katie nods in agreement. "Agreed," she laughs brightly, avoiding Ben's eyes.

Forcing a smile, she gestures toward the door. "Is that all? I'm, uh, busy sorry."

"That's all." Ben stands and smiles at Katie, looking her in the eyes. Noticing the hurt in them, his insides churn but he ignores it.

He turns and leaves Katie's place. She leans against door, sliding down to the floor.

"Can't we be more than just friends?"
