"Annalissa, where are you going?"

Damn. The squeaky front door betrays me again.

"Er...just to the library. Why do you care?"

That question was rhetorical of course. She was my mother, and there's only one reason mothers ask questions like that. I can't blame her for looking after me. After all, that's what parents are there for. At least they should be. Yet at the same time, I knew her question was just as pointless as mine. Having what the majority of other teenagers call "no life", I rarely go anywhere except the library, and my mother was very well aware of this.

"Okay. Be safe", she replied, without bothering to answer my meaningless question.

I walked the usual path to the library: Down to Main street, about a mile to the high school. Turn the corner at the school and walk another mile. Simple.

At last I reach the library. I always loved this library. Not only for the literary masterpieces within, but for the selcouth Gothic architecture of the building, wonderfully standing out against the monochromatic, "cookie-cutter" modern architecture of every other building in town. It's like a breath of fresh air. A reminder of a time when people were passionate about things that matted, like spirituality and true romance. And not just interested in the newest celebrity gossip. Call me old-fashioned, because that's probably accurate.

As I walked though the heavy front doors, the comforting scent of books enters my naval cavity and sets momentarily in my lungs before entering my bloodstream for my heart to pump throughout my body. Hmm, I like that thought: Oxygen in the library is now oxygen within me.

Having sought out a nice spot to read, I went off to find a good book. I've read dozens, maybe hundreds of books before...maybe. Regardless, I read more than the average teen. And let me tell you, there are some great books out there. Books that should be mandatory reads. With that being said, I'm always searching for a new book to inspire me, to give me hope, to alter my emotions, to do at least something. Considering the last book I read, today's search will be a challenge. One I'm very much up for.

After reading a few novellas, I decided that today wasn't going to be the day I find that new inspiring book. So I head back home, the sun close to setting. But I'll be back to visit my paper friends, my only worthwhile friends, soon.
