Chapter 1: Invisible

The way we found out about your abilities is a scary yet funny story, I would hear you cry but never see you, at times you would disappear I thought you were just playing around till one day a crying sound was coming from your crib, I ran over but didn't see anything, so I reached my hands into the crib and felt your tiny baby feet, I pick you up but I couldn't see you. Once you stop crying you reappeared in my arms smiling, At first I was skeptical I thought I was crazy. So I told Gerald obviously he didn't believe me at first but once he experienced it that's when we realize you are more special than you think. So Gerald and I worked all day and night to stop these abilities but nothing worked , So we tried a different approach we tried to dampen your abilities and it worked with this bracelet that sent a small shock to the part of your brain that controlled your powers, you won't feel the shock and it isn't dangerous but you should never take this off because you could become invisible again and people would harm you. You would be 2017's new experiment. We love you very much Nadia, You are my kid.

This story was always in mind since I was born, But throughout my life I couldn't help but be curious, I would take off the bracelet and I would disappear people would witness then the perkins would mysteriously move away. My parents would be really upset with me because I didn't listen to them. Eventually I learned my lesson, "Nadia NADIA!!!" I hear a loud scream that breaks my train of thought and now my father sits at the kitchen table upset with me. "Did you even hear a thing we said?"My mother asks giving me a stern look, "Sorry Mom and Dad I was in my head"I answer quietly bowing my head in shame. "It's okay honey but we were talking about how you wanted a dog-" "And you got me a dog" I jump into the sentence without letting her finish. She rolls her eyes and a playful smile is place on her lips, She picks something from the floor and pulls out a small puppy. I gasp as I look at the little golden lab, She hands him over into my arms as he licks my face. "This your present I know life is really hard for you and all so we got you something you really wanted " she states handing me a bright red collar. "Well what's his name " asks my father smiled at me and my new companion, I slip on his collar as he nuzzles his small head into my hands, his fur was really soft and golden. He had beautiful chocolate brown eyes. Right there and then a name pops in my head, "Simon" I say letting the dog's name slip out my mouth. He smiles at the name and I look up at my parents. "Simon perkins" my father completes his full name. "But simon for now" corrects my mother. "Okay enough chit chat time for school" she smiles. "Awwww really can i skip and just spend time with simon" I say scratching his head. I receive deafening glares from both my parents and I nod. I guess that means no, I put simon down as I flatten out my uniform's skirt.

I grab a lint roller and pick up all the shredding dog hair, I grab a bagel and head to the car, I sit in the front passenger seat as my dad slides into the driver's seat. The engines roars to life and we back out of our beautiful white house. He drives about 10 minutes before we arrive to start the second year of high school, I mentally roll my eyes as I roll down the window and let the fresh breezy take my dark brown shoulder length curls in the wind as I look up at the warm sun, It was early september which means warm temperatures for a couple of months in new york till it's blazing cold. I might as well take it in before it's to late. The car comes to a slow stop as we are right in front of school, I look at my dad with the look "please don't make me go" he grins then I smile, He reaches over and looks like he's about to give me a hug but he takes a whole 360 and unlock my door. I frown at him as he chuckles, I reluctantly grab my bag and slam the door open, I cross my arms and place them on the windowsill, "Pleaseeeeee dad I don't wanna go" I say practically begging, "Why not?" he says, "It doesn't matter they won't even know I'm gone" I admit sadly I haven't really made a impact. "Maybe this year it's different" he says roll up the window as he pulls away. I spin on my heels as throw my bag over my shoulders and walk towards the glass double doors. As you can tell this school is very expensive only the brightest minds and richest families get into this school. We have annual balls instead dances, we have feasts for lunch, we get innovation labs and assigned laptops for everyday usage, we have uniforms the schools colors blue and grey. Girls wear blue skirts and a grey button down and black character shoes. Boys wear grey khakis and a blue button down shirt and any black or brown shoes, The dress code must be follow or your in big trouble, But since I'm so invisible nobody has notices for about a year now that I wear vans instead of character shoes because I can't walk in heels even if it's a small one.
