Marlene McKinnon loved the library. She could be found there most afternoons, it was her ritual. When Sirius Black started going to the library every day during her sacred library time, she was slightly ruffled.
Sirius Black, being a socialite, loved to approach the rather pretty Marlene. At first, Marlene was rather cold. She knew what Sirius Black did with her friend Ellen and nearly every other witch at Hogwarts. Then, the sweet, yet sassy Hufflepuff found herself staring at the handsome Gryffindor. She seemed to accept his very predictable one liners and flirtatious advances. For nearly a week, they had been on somewhat friendly terms.
Sirius looked up to meet her gaze. Little did she know, he had been waiting for her to show one second of interest. As soon as she sent him that little glance and smile, Sirius took it as a green flag.
Out of the corner of her eye, Marlene watched as Sirius stood up and approached a neighboring shelf. She tried to stay immersed in her Herbology book, but Sirius' antics were much more interesting.
Nonchalantly, but purposely, Sirius picked up one of the books and opened it. Marlene clapped her hands over her ears as a loud roar, like a lion, filled the room. Next, Sirius opened a book that started to bark. He kept opening the books until a symphony of zoo animals could be heard cackling, roaring, and hissing. Marlene couldn't take the sound and jumped up, slamming ten books shut.
"Why, in Merlin's name, would you ever make such a scene in the library?" Marlene scolded. She slammed the last book shut under Sirius' nose. "Madam Pince will be furious! The library is a quiet place!"
"Well it got your attention, didn't it?" Sirius revealed. "Besides, I wanted to prove to you Madam Pince is gone. We are completely alone."
Marlene dropped her jaw to reply with a smart comment, but realized he was right. There was no yelling coming from Madam Pince's desk. She stepped out, Marlene supposed.
Marlene suddenly realized how close Sirius was standing to her. The tall boy was inching even closer. She was rooted to the spot by his intriguing grey eyes. Somehow, his muscled arms made their way on either side of her, pinning her to the bookshelf as his lips found hers. Marlene couldn't believe what she was doing, and that she enjoyed it, as she wrapped her arms around him and put her fingers in Sirius' long, black hair.
The kiss felt like it could've lasted forever, as Marlene's heart thudded in her chest. In the midst of the hungry kiss, Sirius picked Marlene up, so she could sit on one of the shelves. His hands were gentle, yet lusting as Sirius caressed her legs. At one swift and rather rushed movement, a squawking book fell to the ground. The pair continued to desperately lock lips for a few seconds, oblivious to the sounds filling the library. Finally, Sirius pulled away and kicked the book shut, leaving the two in a breathless silence.
"That was-" Marlene whispered, absolutely stunned. Sirius still looked at her with a seductive look.
"I know, I have that effect." Sirius flashed his winning, cocky smile. At Sirius' words, Marlene suddenly came to her senses.
With a swift smack, Marlene pulled herself off the boy. It wasn't a hard hit, but it was enough to surprise Sirius. He actually laughed at her anger.
"You'll be back!" Sirius called after her. They always seemed to come back.
"Doubtful!"
Marlene McKinnon was red in the face from anger as she strode away, but the anger covered the blush on her cheeks. She couldn't believe what she'd done, and even felt a little nervous because she wanted to do it again.
