Lexi considered sending her two children to Illvermony and moving to the United States, where they didn't know who Sirius Black was.
Of the people who recognized her, witches and wizards would constantly give her dirty looks over her murderous husband, and she only wanted to give her family a fresh start. The unfair treatment would undoubtedly be pressed upon her children as well. At one point, she even considered changing her last name and the last name of her children legally to Stryker. However, she was told in order to do that, she would have to divorce Sirius Black. All it would take was one letter to the convict, but Lexi couldn't bring herself to do it. So, Lexi stayed Alexandra Black and hid as much as she could, living in a quaint house in a Muggle village to hide her children from the truth about their father.
And thus began the lie that the true father of her children was none other than Regulus Black, because being the children of a Death Eater was better than being the children of the spy who helped murder his best friends.
