I covered my ears to the shouting of my parents in the room across the hall. I hated when their arguments got like this. There would always end up arguing and one of them would leave and then come back. But this time they weren't arguing over something pointless and dumb. I cracked my door open a little, And listened:

"Why? I just want to know, why. You have everything, here. Why would you throw it all away?" I heard my dad's voice start to crack almost like he was bout to cry. which worried me. My dad never cries.

"It wasn't intentional" my dad scoffed. "Everything happened so fast, It will never happen again, I promise" My mom almost whispered.

"you said that  last time Marilyn, and look where we are now"

"Babe, come on, I didn't do it on purpose, Im sorry"

"You need to leave, now"

"Harry, please, we are married, we can figure this out.... Where am I gonna go?"

"You will figure it out, I'm sure"

"WE are married, Harry."

"You are really telling me that? After what YOU did last night? YOU out us in this mess. We would be doing a better job parenting if you weren't whoring around. So just do this family a favor and stay out of It."

That was the end of it. My mother packed her things and came into my room, to tell me she was going to stay with my aunt in New York. I pretended I didn't know why. I was so angry at her, she ruined our family, and she most importantly ruined the future that I knew was to come with my father.

...

Its been 4 years since my mother left, my dad filed for a divorce. And then that was it. I think her leaving was really the only thing I really remembered of her.

I slowly opened my eyes. I reached my arm to my alarm clock and slammed it down. I slowly got up from my bed and put on the outfit that I picked out last night. It was sweatpants, and a cami with a hoodie. I put on mascara and eyeliner and lip gloss. My dad was drinking again so I didn't expect him to see me leave. Every since my mother left 4 years ago he had a bad drinking problem, so he wasn't around very often.

I picked up a banana and got into my car and drove to school.
