Valleri walked down the stairs and she could hear Daddy close behind. It had taken her twenty three years, but she'd finally managed to wrap Daddy around her finger.
"That was quite something Princess"
She smiled to herself as she walked towards the kitchen, he had bought it. "I learned from the best"
Daddy laughed behind her as she sat back down in front of her French toast. She knew where David was, that was the most important thing. Now she just needed to figure out what to do next.
"Daddy?"
"Hmm?"
Valleri thought for a second and shook her head. "Never mind"
"What is it?"
"I was just wondering where my car keys are, I was going to go pick up some things."
Daddy shook his head. "You're not driving that, take one from the garage"
Valleri smiled. "Which one?"
"Keys are by the garage door"
She slid off the stool and picked up her empty plate walking around to the sink. Dropping it in the soapy water she kissed Daddy on the cheek.
"Thank you" she paused. "And I know you don't like him, but make sure he eats"
Daddy rolled his eyes. "Valleri"
"Daddy, you already broke is nose and god knows what else; just make sure you feed him"
"Alright".
Valleri left not saying anything more. There were six sets of keys hanging by the door. Two of which were hers and David's. She grabbed one set and took David's slipping them in her pocket. She opened the garage door and slid out; she could hear Daddy working in the kitchen.
Hitting the unlock key to figure out exactly which set of car keys she had taken. The black Mercedes was the one to light up. She didn't see David's car in the garage though, that was the next step.
She pulled out of the garage and drove down the path to the front gate. She drove up the road to the first turn off; pulling onto the dirt road she pulled the car over and shut if off, shoving the keys in her pocket as she walked back towards the mansion.
It only took Valleri about ten minutes to get back to the house. Careful to avoid the windows, she walked back to the barn. It occurred to her on the way back that David's car might be in the barn. There was nowhere else possible to have it if Daddy had done this on his own.
She ran along the back side of the barn through the back door and almost ran directly into David's car. Valleri sighed with relief, Daddy had made this easier than she had expected, now the only trick was not to get caught.
Valleri kept to the back of the house, still careful to avoid the windows. It was dark but she didn't want to take any chances. The back deck was her easiest way to see into the kitchen and the room was dark, meaning Daddy was somewhere else in the house.
Still careful to be really quiet, Valleri tiptoed up onto the deck and checked the door handle; it was unlocked. Slowly she opened the door, just far enough to get inside. Pulling the door closed behind her she listened for Daddy walking around.
Hearing nothing she walked carefully around the dark kitchen. She peered around the door frame into the foyer. The light was on, but it was empty.
She moved quickly as quietly as she could to the landing of the staircase. A door closed down the hallway and Valleri could hear footsteps. She froze in terror, if Daddy caught her it was over.
