Walking out into the hallway, it was empty. She knew Daddy would be able to hear her walking around, but he hadn't come for her yet.
Valleri walked out to the kitchen, it was still dark. She turned back around and headed down the hallway towards the library. She had started to feel uneasy, she knew the house was big and had a tendency to be quiet, but when she knew he was around, somewhere nearby, but couldn't hear him it made her feel extremely uneasy.
She moved slowly down the hallway, deciding it was probably better to be as quiet as possible. Carefully pushing the door to the library open she ducked inside. The light on Daddy's desk was on, but the room was empty.
There were over thirty rooms in this house, she didn't really fancy searching each one but if that's what it took she was going to do it. Leaving the library she looked up both ends of the hallway, still empty she continued further down towards the parlour.
She heard the hammer of a gun pull back and froze mid-step.
"Looking for something?"
Valleri turned on one heel to face him.
"You" she folded her arms over her chest staring down the barrel of the gun in his hand. Her heat pounded in her chest, but she was done running.
"Because you already found David"
"This is about you and me, leave David out of it"
"Where is David, he should be protecting you, shouldn't he?"
"I'm protecting him"
"Protecting him?"
"From the big man with the gun pointed at his daughter" she kept her voice even but she was terrified. "If you're going to shoot me, just do it"
"I hadn't planned on shooting you, but since your boy is gone, looks like I don't have a choice"
"Then why tell David you did?"
"Doesn't matter"
Valleri narrowed her eyes. "It's not even loaded"
"You really want to take that chance"
"I think I already am"
"You've gotten quite bold since I last saw you"
"No, I'm just not afraid of you anymore"
"And your boyfriend?"
"He never was afraid of you"
"But he's afraid for you"
Valleri looked at him confused.
"Don't you think so?" Daddy smirked "Why don't we go ask him?"
"Ask him?"
Daddy nodded. "Walk" he motioned towards the foyer.
"And if I don't?"
"You die"
Valleri rolled her eyes. "How dramatic of you"
"I'm not kidding"
She said nothing, just walked by him up the hallway towards the foyer. Feeling the gun poke her in the back she exhaled sharply through her nose.
"Easy, I'm going; keep your damn pants on"
They came out into the bright opening and Valleri sighed when she saw David. Hands tied behind his back, ankles tied together
"I told you I needed to do this on my own, why didn't you just go?"
"Doesn't look like you're any better off"
