BEEP BEEP BEEP
My alarm scared the heck out of me which made me fall off my bed. It's only five o'clock in the morning. Great.
"Someone looks awake." I hear a deep voice from the hall.
"Shut up Noah." I say getting up. I picked out my outfit to go to the airport. My grey sweatpants and my cozy shirt with a happy Mickey on it. I'm not like the other girls at my school. I'm not skinny but I'm not over weight and I am taller than most girls. I have really puffy, curly, blonde hair that I put in a high pony tale.
I suffer from a lot of social anxiety and hate big crowds in small spaces. That is one of the reasons why I hate airplanes so much. The other, well I don't talk about it that much.
----
My dad loaded the car with all our suit cases and we were on our way to the airport.
I barely had any time to eat breakfast, so I took an apple on the way.
"The photographer is only 17 you know, melody," Grace said winking at me.
Oh right, I almost forgot that Grace is coming with us. Last night she came over so we could get up early in the morning. I was already asleep by then. She and I were planning this trip since my dad let her go (which was like two months ago).
She hasn't stopped talking about this trip ever since she saw my family calender on the fridge. This is going to be so much fun. I hope they have an H&M there oh I can't wait for the hot weather...." She kept talking about the trip nonstop. "Maybe we can even go cute boy shopping. Ever since you broke up with Dyl- I mean because we are both single and ready to mingle."
Ok yes I know what your thinking. Well I'm not going pour my heart ok. The past is in the past, Dylan is just a name I used to know. Let's get on with it.
I wonder what pictures I'll take..." Grace was still going on and on about the trip. Noah was fast asleep and my dad focused on driving so Grace must have been talking to only me.
"What are you trying to do?" I say breaking Grace's sentence.
"Oh I don't know. I'm just saying this past year you've seemed distant so I thought you might need something to spice up your life and maybe even your love life. You know...." This was the time Noah woke up laughing at Grace's words.
"She is still talking." Grace blushed at that comment. She claims she doesn't have a crush on him, but I know better.
"Apparently she thinks I have been a little depressed lately and will turn into crazy cat lady." I say. Grace follows with a series of giggles.
-----
After a long ride to the airport, we checked our bags and started our way to the gate. We got here super early since you can never tell with security.
"You ok. " Noah is the only one who knows about my panic attacks. If I told my dad I would never be alone. I really don't need him to be even more of a helicopter dad. Grace knows but she knows not to push it.
She knows I don't want to talk to a stranger about some anxiety problem that I have and take some pills and say I'm "ok."
-----Grace and I went to Starbucks to get hot white chocolate mochas while my dad and Noah went to get food from McDonald's.
I loved people watching. Especially at airports. All these people going places either scrambling or taking their own sweet time. Families with little kids playing on those flat escalators and their mom saying no or those serious business people looking so angry.
Grace and I started playing Emoji Blitz. I love having our endless battles in games. We have a new one every month. Last month it was crossy road.
As we played Noah fell asleep for the second time while my dad went to go check the times to make sure we are still on time for departure.
-----It was finall time for loading on the plain. I was freaking out. LIKE FREAKING OUT! Ok Melody 1....2......3.......4.....5. Of course my dad accidentally got the wrong tickets so he was a couple people ahead of us. This made me freak out a little more
"You ok," Noah said seriously.
"Ya.... Ya I think I'm fine." I say with my knuckles getting more white the more I hold onto my bag.
"Remember to breath and count to 10."
"Thanks bro." Grace holds my hand in reassurance and we start boarding the plain. My dad sat across the aisle next to a grumpy old lady and some college student. I was in the middle while Grace had the window and Noah had the aisle seat.
Let's just skip that whole 4 hour of boredom shall we.
Overall the plain ride wasn't that bad. When we had turbulence, I just closed my eyes and thought of the beautiful ocean.
For some odd reason the idea of waves crashing against the shore and crabs making their way across the sand calms me down.
I know what your thinking. How could a girl from Ohio love the ocean. Your guess is as good as mine. I've just always felt attached to it.
------
We got of the plain and went to look for this so called "Joe" who my dad said was the name of the guy who is going to pick us up and drive us to our hotel for the next two weeks.
As we go down the escalator I see a boy with dark hair. He was wearing a leather jacket with black pants and a plain grey shirt. His muscles were shown through his jacket. Man, that is drool worthy, snap out of it. He was holding a sign that said "Birds Fly."
That's weird. It said my dad's company on there.
My mouth almost fell to the floor. There I was drooling over him and not even realizing he was the 17 year old boy that worked for my dad(to explain really fast my dad's work is all over America).
This is going to be a fun trip....
