Good Mythical Time Travel

Chapter 1

"Mom come on we're just walking up to the school." "I know, just  be careful, ok?" she said. "I promise, we'll stay on the sidewalk the whole time, and we'll hide if we see a white van." I held back my laughter from my last statement, seeing my mom clearly was not amused. "Hannah, I'm trusting you. I want you guys back here in 30 minutes." I looked over at my cousin Sidney. "Thirty minutes. Ok. Bye Aunt Betsy!" Sydney dragged me out the door. "Ugh thanks Syd. She gets too worried sometimes." Syd gave me a look that said, "yeah I know." We quietly walked up the hill my house is resting on up to my old elementary school. "I'm really glad you were able to come up here this Summer. I'm sad you have to leave in two weeks." I said. "Yeah, I'll miss you and Joanie a lot." Syd remarked. I nodded. I turned left at the top of the hill, Syd following behind me. I kicked at a small stone on the blacktop, shifting my eyes down. "That's because you want to marry him." She joked. "I do not! He's already married and has a baby. He's way too old for me." I said. I honestly wish he was my age. He's so awesome and I think if he was my age there would be a chance he might like me too. But he's not. He's married. He has a kid. I looked over at my old school and saw a shimmer on the door of the cafeteria. "Syd, do you see that?" I said, pointing to the door. "Yeah what the bloody hell is that?!" I rolled my eyes, as I've told her many times she's not British so she needs to stop acting like it. I took he hand and dragged her up to the door. There we saw the door handle was glowing a bright blue. "Oh my god what the...?" I said. It was brighter than anything I had ever seen. "Should we see if it'll open?" Syd said. I looked at the door, then back at her with wary eyes. "On three?" I said cautiously. "Yeah. 1...2...3" we pulled on the handle and peeked inside the door. What we saw inside, or should I say outside, couldn't possible be right...
