Chapter 1

Jessica

Jessica Frost is definitely not normal.

First of all, her mom is Khione. The Greek goddess of snow and ice. So she's part Greek goddess.

Second of all, her dad is Jack Frost. The one-and-only Jack Frost. So she's also part whatever-Jack-Frost-is.

Third of all, she's immortal.

So Camp Half-Blood isn't quite enough for Jessica, but here she is at the entrance to it. Jack Frost has to get back to his job so he's going to leave her here. The last thirteen winters have been quite warm but nobody really minded. Everyone loves warm weather. Well, everyone except for Jessica, that is.

"Oh, come on Dad," said Jessica, laughing. "You can at least come with me to the Big House."

"No!" exclaimed Jack in mock refusal. "I can't get past!" He pretended to bang his hands on a barrier that's not there. "I'm not special like you."

Jessica laughed even harder. I mean, this is JACK FROST we're talking about here. He says he's not special?! That's just like him.

"Come on!" She grabbed his arm and pulls him.

"Oh the pain! I'm not meant to be here, Jessie!" Even Jack was laughing now.

She continued to pull him until they got to the Big House, attracting strange looks from campers. By then Jack had stopped resisting and Jessica was pretty much just dragging him.

When she finally dragged him to the Big House's porch, he stood up and walked up the steps. Jessica stayed where she was. I mean, pulling your dad for about a mile tends to make you tired.

Jack made an ice wall covering the gap where you're supposed to walk up the stairs onto the porch. Jessica banged her hands on the wall and groaned, "Dad!!!!"

"What's the matter, Jessie? Can't get past?" Jack grinned.

"Oh I can get past." Jessica smiled evilly. She shot a blast of ice at the wall and shattered it. "Remember, I'm more powerful than you!"

Jack slapped his head. "And I almost went one full day without you reminding me."

Dad is so silly, thought Jessica. She walked up the stairs and into the Big House.

-------------------

Jessica thought nothing could ever seem weird to her, being not even a single bit human, but this was definitely strange.

The 'person' who greeted her was centaur. Yes, a centaur. Part man, part horse. Jessica couldn't help but stare.

"I'm Chiron," said the centaur. "Activities director of Camp Half-Blood."

"I'm Jessica."

"I know," Chiron said darkly. Jessica was surprised. What was so bad about her? "We don't have a Khione cabin yet because Khione has never had any children," he continued as if nothing happened, "so you'll be in the Hermes cabin for now."

"Okay."

Chiron turns to Jack. "I'm sorry, but you can't stay. This camp is for Greeks only. Normally the other parent doesn't even see me." He said 'other' like a terrible insult. What's his problem? thought Jessica. He's never like this in the Percy Jackson books.

Yes, she had read the Percy Jackson books. He's famous! Plus everything in the books actually happened. Percy just told Rick Riordan about it and he turned it into books and stole all the credit.

"Annabeth!" called Chiron. A 16 year old with blonde hair wearing an orange Camp Half-Blood t-shirt walked into the room.

Jessica looked at her like she was famous-which she is. Annabeth sighed. "You read the books, didn't you?"

Jessica nodded. "Yeah! I think you're awesome! Can I see your dagger?" she said excitedly.

"No. Come on, I'll show you your cabin."

"One sec." Jessica ran over to Jack and gave him a big hug. "Bye Dad. I'll miss you."

"Bye Jessie. I'll see you in the spring and fall. I love you."

"Yep. I love you too."

Jack opened up the door. "Bye."

"Bye," said Jessica as Jack closed the door behind him. "See you in five months," she whispered.

"Come on Jessica," said Annabeth. "I'll show you the Hermes cabin."
