"Come on," Justice wheezed as he forced Jaspar to move, the blind man stumbling badly as he was unable to see the roots and branches on the ground. "We don't know how long we have until the Wardens distraction wears off," he panted, half dragging, half supporting Jaspar.
Jaspar scrambling in the darkness, unable to see and yet the muscles around the straining as he naturally tried to see where to go. Justice was panicking and not helping matters by just yanking him in the dark. It almost made Jaspar long for Elison who would have just picked him up and thrown him over his shoulder. Instead was left with splinters in under his nails as he scrambled for support.
He just kept getting flashes of his vision and what was happening now. Watching morbidly as Tim tried to change the course of fate by not running. Jaspar panted, pushing off a tree as Justice led him. "Tim's trying something," he admitted, yelping as he tripped over and fell to the ground.
Justice fell to his side, Jaspar able to hear the clogs in Justice's fake leg locking. Diving unexpectedly from the car had damaged the device making it even harder for the two of them to run. "Jaspar," he panted frightened.
"Go," Jaspar wheezed, having lost his breath. "I'm only holding you back. You have to go. He'll kill you, if you don't get free. You know he will."
"I'm not leaving up behind Jaspar. We're close, just get up," begged Justice. "We're so close," he promised, sounding like he was crying. "Just get up!" he yelled.
Panting as he watched Maria get hit by the spear but this time not in a fatal place, Jaspar knew they were close to being out of time. John would come after them soon. Jaspar summoned his last piece of strength and pulled himself to his feet, helping Justice get up too. Justice pulled him along by his hand at a slightly slower pace, both young men limping as they tried to get to get to the borderline.
The wind hissed past them and the sounds of running thundered in the night. "Out of time," Justice hissed, and yanked Jaspar forward. Jaspar fell over again as his feet hit something hard. Justice pulled him further along until Jaspar's back was against rough stone. Magic thumped from them dangerous and there was a monstrous roar of anger.
A flash of something went through Jaspar's mind. He was pressed up against the church wall. They had made it to the borderline. That didn't mean they were safe though, Jaspar knew this. He reached up, trying to find JUstice. A hand caught his and held it tightly, Justice just panting himself
"Justice. Jaspar," John's distorted voice whispered. "You think being over that line will stop me from recapturing you?" he asked seriously.
"Rules are rules. You can't touch us anymore. As long as we never come back, you can't do anything to us anymore," Justice said, his voice trembling but growing stronger with every word. "Those are your rules. If someone makes it to the border..."
"This was never supposed to be the border," John hissed. "I refuse to accept this," John roared. Jasper curled slightly from the yell. "I haven't killed the Wardens. The only death has been Raine," he commented gently. "Come here boys, and I'll be merciful to you," he offered in a dark tone which Jaspar didn't trust at all.
"Ha," Jaspar grimaced, spitting blood from his mouth. "You said, three would live. There are four of us now alive. You still want to kill one of us. I can feel it in the air," he said ominously not lying. The air around them smelt of blood and anger. Someone else was going to die that night and Jaspar knew it wasn't him.
"Me, to be exact. You want to kill me," Justice said, gulping unable to keep all the fear from his voice.
"Sweetheart, you knew the rules," John commented idly. "One get out of jail card only. You used it. I can't let you live but I can make it quick. Fight me and I will make what happens next very painful for you. I don't want to. I'm very fond of you Justice. Please don't make me torture you," John said like it was completely Justice decision. Like it wasn't John's decision to kill Justice. John could decide not too, he was powerful enough to deal with any challenges which came from such an action but he was choosing not to.
