Blue.

Why did I keep using the color blue?

I shook my head, clearing my head as I dropped the pencil, sighing as I picked up another, going in to color again.

My eyes widened slightly.

I just picked up a darker blue..?

I dropped it once again, this time a bit harsher, before my head fell in my hands. The girl next to me gave me a sideways glance, her eyebrow raised slightly at my actions. I just closed my eyes, looking away as a bright blush covered my cheeks.

"Something the matter?"

I looked up, my leg shaking under the desk as I met eyes with my art teacher, Mrs. Marcane.

I shook my head, before glancing back down at my art, making sure to pick up a red colored pencil.

"This isn't that difficult, Dan," she chuckled, her big green eyes squinting softly as the laughter poured from her lips. "All you're doing is creating a scheme of colors that inspire you in some shape or form."

I nodded, tilting my head slightly.

I looked back up at her, my lips parted slightly as I lifted my hands.

'How can colors inspire me?' I signed, confusion evident on my face. Marcane was one of the few teachers that took it into account to learn sign language for me, considering she loved communicating with all of her students. She was by far my closest teacher, and if anything, friend.

She smiled, taking a seat in the empty chair next to me.

"Well, answer me this. When I said this assignment was based around colors, what was the first one that popped into your head?"

I took a moment to think, before I lifted my hands once again, hesitantly.

'Blue, but I have no idea why,'

She laughed a little, sighing under her breath.

"Is blue your favorite color, Dan?"

I thought for a moment, then nodded.

'Either that, or purple.'

"Well, maybe that's why it popped into your head, because we tend to associate these sorts of things with categories we favorite. Do you like the sky? Do you sometimes just stare at it?"

I shook my head slowly.

"Well, this isn't my point, but you should sometime, it's really relaxing." She breathed, lost in thought a little. "Well, what do you like to do, Dan?"

I bit my lip. 'I really like climbing trees.' I signed. She laughed, her eyebrows raising.

"Okay, that's amazing, I haven't gotten that one yet," She said, pursing her lips. "Hmm.. Climbing trees. Well why do you like doing that?"

'I like to look at the world from a different angle, plus the leaves are really nice.'

She nodded, a small grin gracing her lips.

"Is there a specific tree you climb?"

I nodded. 'A big one in my backyard. I built a small treehouse up there when I was younger.'

"And what exactly do you see when you look out from that spot?"

I closed my eyes for a moment, attempting to imagine it.
