Tacos

"Get me soft tacos." My brother said as I reached for my snow boots.
"You weirdo. Who eats soft tacos?" He shot me a look of anger as I put on my jacket and grabbed my car keys.
"I'll be back in a little bit. Love you." He says I love you back and I rush outside in the bitter cold night. I jump into my car and head for the closest Taco Bell.
We live in Kansas, and it snowed the night before. 6 inches. Our power went out and all our food in the fridge spoiled. I live with my mom and brother but my mom was out working late that night so I had to take care of my brother who was disabled. Well temporarily. He broke his leg in a bike accident a week before. With my mom working late all week, I had to take care of the brat, and I had to give him anything and everything he wanted. He wanted fast food and I mentioned Taco Bell and that's all he could talk about. So I obviously hopped on board since I love me some tacos.

I pull up and decide to go inside rather than drive thru. I walk in and am hit with an instant breeze of warm air. I sigh and take off my beanie and gloves. And walk up to the counter. I look around and I see the whole place is empty besides a couple dudes my age sitting at a table. I make direct eye contact with one of the boys in particular. He stares at me with his light blue eyes and smiles. He looks back down in a shy way and continues to eat.

Not thinking anything of it, I walk up to the counter and order my food. The cashier tells me my total and I read into my back pocket.
Damn it! I forgot my wallet
"I'm sorry sir..I forgot my wallet. I'll come back later." I start to back up from the counter when I bump into something.
"Oh I'm sorry!" Says a derp makes voice.
"No I'm sor—" I turned around to see the kid with the blue eyes. I found him attractive when he was closer.
"You forgot your wallet?" He said looking at the cashier.
"I..uh..yeah. Im a idiot sometimes." I shrug and put my hands in my pockets. Not taking my eyes off of his.
"I'll pay." He pulls out his wallet. I grab his arm.
"No. It's fine. It really is." But before I could stop him he already handed the cashier the credit card.
"It's my pleasure. Anything for a pretty girl." He smiles and winks. The wink wasn't a fuck boy wink it was a sweet wink. A wink that gives you chills.
"Come sit while you wait." He motions towards his table with his friend. I sit down nervous.
"You look tense." Says his friend. His friend looked relaxed and friendly. He had blonde hair and a sweatshirt that read 'XPLR'. The other kid was also wearing a hoodie that said the same thing.
"I'm fine. What does 'XPLR' mean?" I asked pointing at his shirt.
"Oh it means explorer. I'm Sam. And he's Colby. We have a YouTube channel called 'Sam and Colby' and we explore abandoned places for our videos. This is our merchandise for our fans." Colby was smiling at me.
"Wow. I think my brother might have been watching one of your videos earlier!" I said.
"Really? That's cool!" Said Sam.

We all talked for a couple more minutes while my food was being cooked. I found myself getting more and more attracted to Colby. There was something about him that made me feel warm.
They called my name to pick up my order.
"Thanks for the great talk! I gotta go now. My brother is waiting!" I wave and grab my food. I'm walking towards the exit when Colby rushes up to me.
"Call me sometime." He hands me his number and winks at me again. The same wink that sent chills down my spine. I winked back and got into my car.

That night I couldn't stop thinking about it. I grabbed my phone and typed in his number. I decided to shoot him a text even thought it was 2:30am.

To Colby: Hey, It's y/n. Taco guuuurllll.
I expected no reply considering I said "guuuurllll" But he did. Instantly.
From Colby: hey taco girl. ;)
There was the wink again. Giving me chills.
To Colby: I watched some of your videos. They are so cool. I've always wanted to explore something.
From Colby: do you want to go with me and Sam next week? :)
I nearly jumped out of my bed from excitement.
To Colby: Fuck yeah I would! Count me in!
From Colby: it's a date ;)
I sat back in my bed and fell asleep smiling. I could already tell he was perfect.
