Can you see it?
The flicker of a frown in her smile?
The underlying sadness in her eyes?
The way she walks with her head down?
Can you see the pain in her being?
She's hurting, but she doesn't want you to know,
But she doesn't have to tell you.
You can hear it in the crack of her voice.
If you pay attention, you'll notice more than meets the eye.
She expects the worst,
And she usually gets it.
She feels as though the cycle will never end.
You could have been the change,
You could have shown her there's more,
She believed in you, she thought you were different,
But you proved her right.
Everyone is the same.
She gives her all,
And they take it,
And they leave her,
Then everybody wonders why she's so empty.
