Same Kinda Different

Chapter 6

*A few weeks later*
I roll over in bed and grin at the sight of Remi asleep on Tucker's chest. I slowly get out of bed and grab my robe and head downstairs. I start working on breakfast when I feel a pair of arms slide around me.
"Did you think you could get out of bed that easily, babe?" Tucker whispers in my ear.
I bite my lip and grin.
"I didn't want to wake you up. It was too cute and I figured we'd all be hungry after last night." I say to him.
"Baby, I'm sorry about that again. How are you feeling?" He quickly asks me.
"Tuck, I'm fine. I promise." I tell him.
"Your the only person I know that can come back from the beach and get a hay cold and weeks later still be sick from it." He says to me.
"Well maybe if my handsome boyfriend wouldn't have been making passes at me and we wouldn't have snuck off a couple times then I wouldn't have gotten sick." I jokingly say to him.
"You act like we did bad things when we snuck off." He jokingly says to me.
I laugh and say, "That's true but you did have me out in the water at like 1 in the morning."
I watch Tucker smile as he thinks back to that night.
"What can I say? My girlfriend is beautiful and I wanted to be the only man to enjoy looking at her." He says to me.
I laugh and say, "And you wonder why CJ had that talk with you about being safe."
"I was honest with him that we hadn't and I wasn't sure when we would. That all I wanted right now was you and KR to be happy." He honestly tells me.
I lean up and kiss him and whisper, "We are happy, Tuck. You make me happy and you make her happy. She called you dad the other day when she was talking to my mom about you." 
I see the look on his face and I can't help but grin at him. He doesn't know what he means to KR and I. That we love him so much and that my daughter adores him.
"She called me dad?!? Lake, why haven't you told me this?!?" He quickly asks.
I shrug and say, "I wasn't sure how you would handle it. Plus I was waiting for her to do it in person. It doesn't bother me if it doesn't bother you."
"It doesn't bother me. I kinda like the idea." He tells me.
"Figured you would sweetheart. Okay let me finish working on breakfast then we can get the princess up." I say to him.

We eat breakfast then head to the zoo to meet Olivia and her two nieces.
"So the girl's names are Maddison and Marigold?" Tucker asks me.
"Yes, but we call them Maddy and MG." I remind him.
He nods his head and keeps driving. We park and I get Remi out.
"I want Tuck!" She quickly tells me. I look at him and wait for him to come grab her.
He takes her and starts asking her about what she's most excited for. I smile at them.
We get to the entrance and see Olivia with the girls. Tucker puts Remi down and she runs to Olivia to hug her then she hugs the girls. We walk over to them and Olivia hugs me and says, "Finally! Best friend time! Well semi best friend time! Hey, Tucker."
Tucker smiles and says, "Hey, Liv."
We hear Remi tell the girls that they need to meet her daddy.
Olivia looks at us and raises an eyebrow. I just smile at her and nod my head. We introduce the girls to Tucker then we go on in.
As we're walking around I keep feeling like someone is watching us. I look around a couple times and don't see anything.
Tucker finally looks at me and whispers, "Babe, everything okay?"
I shake my head and whisper, "I feel like someone is watching us."
"It's probably just a fan that recognizes me or maybe even you." He replies.
I shrug and say, "I hope so."
Remi starts yelling daddy! Come here!
I look at him and smile and push him towards her.
He bends down and talks to Remi about the tiger.
"Your in love and so is that little girl." Olivia whispers to me.
I start grinning and whisper, "You think?"
"So can I start planning the wedding?!?" She jokingly ask me.
I shake my head no but I'm grinning the whole time.

We finish at the zoo and grab a quick lunch then head back to my house. I get Remi out of her car seat and start to carry her to the house. Tucker is standing at the front door with a look on his face.
"Tuck? What's wrong?" I quietly ask him.
He says, "Call the police, Lake. Someone broke into the house."
I quickly hand over Remi and call them.
They arrive and we go through the house answering questions. Finally they leave and we wait on someone to come fix the front door. Tucker kisses my head and says, "You okay, babe?"
I nod and whisper, "I just don't know why someone would break in and not take anything."
"Me either baby. How about tonight y'all stay at my place? I'd feel more comfortable and I wouldn't worry that someone might do it again." He says to me.
I nod and say, "Yeah we will do that. If your okay with it, Tuck."
He wraps an arm around me and says, "I'm fine with it, baby. Go ahead and go pack y'alls stuff."
I walk into my closet and grab my duffle bag to start packing when I see it. I scream as I read the note. Tucker is at my side instantly.
"Lake?!" He says to me.
I whisper, "He is getting brave now to break into my house and leave them in the house. He knows about us and he's not a fan. He doesn't like that Remi calls you dad."
"Your not his property, Lake. He has no say in who your dating. He may have a say with Remi but hell you said it yourself, he was never a father to her. Your happy and that's all that matters." He quietly tells me as he pulls the note from my hand to read for himself.
I hear him mumbling cuss words.
"Lake, please don't listen to half of what his note says. He just doesn't want you or KR happy." Tucker whispers to me.
I wrap my arms around him and whisper, "I know better, remember I was married to him. I know how much he was lying to me back then. I'm not going to leave you for him, Tuck. I'm happy with us and what we've started. If I wasn't, I sure wouldn't let you stay here and sleep in my bed and I for sure wouldn't let my daughter grow attached to you."
He buries his head into my neck and whispers, "You mean our daughter. If it's up to me we'll get married and I'll adopt her when that happens."
I grin and say, "You want to adopt Remi?!?"
He feel him laugh against my skin before he kisses my neck and says, "Well yeah. She's mine too you know. I mean she calls me dad. We've only been dating for 6 months and she is already calling me that. She knows we're meant to be, Laken Abilene."
I chuckle and say, "Okay. Let me pack and you go find our girl and help her get some of her toys."
He kisses my neck and walks off to find Remi.
I smile and thank God everyday for putting Tucker in my life.
