She lay on the concrete, cold and bloodied. Not moving. Not breathing. Paramedics were everywhere, and the reflection of the bright lights shun off the damp concrete.
Her Lexus was totaled, along with every fiber of my being.
" Baby, " I whispered, kneeling down to her cold discoloured body.
" Gabi, " I said, running my fingers through her curly hair, trying to calm myself.
I cursed loudly, losing the battle with my emotions. Pulling her body close to mine, I was wracked in sobs and was shaking uncontrollably.
" I told you, " I whispered, as paramedics tried to pull me off of her.
" I told you. I told you. Why? Why did you go back? I told you to listen.. "
But, she didn't. She wouldn't. And now...
We're all paying for it.
