Chapter 1

My eyes fluttered open as I heard tapping on my window, I bolted straight up in bed. I relaxed once I realized it was the rain pattering on my window. "LUNA!! it's time for school!", my mom yells at me from the kitchen, she probably has breakfast ready for me.

As I walked down the stairs a smell hit me, it smelled bittersweet and dangerous. "Dad what's that smell?" My dad just looked up from his plate and suggested, "breakfast?". "Haha very funny Dad. You and I both know that's not true", I said annoyed.

As the alpha of the Moon Ridge pack my father had to tell me, his daughter and second luna after my mom(yes that's why my name is Luna), also known as the one who will take over the pack when I'm ready. "Did I forget to mention the smell Luna?", Dad asked me, clearly teasing. "Uh yeah, you kinda did", I rolled my eyes at him. "The vampire coven is back in town", my father said nonchalantly. "WHAT?!?!", I exploded. "Luna, inside voice please", my mom said.

"You know what? I don't have time for this I got to get to school.", I said trying to get out of here. "Take your umbrella with you!", my mom called after me. I ignored her and walked out the door. Besides, I've always loved the rain and mud. Call it a wolf thing. "Luna, wait up!", Elisa called after me. I waited for my best friend; sure I was in a bad mood but never when she's around.

"Did you catch that scent?", Elisa asked once she caught up. "Yeah I did, it smelt familiar and now I know why", I said, still annoyed with my dad. "What is it?!", she almost screamed. "Calm down, take a deep breath and listen to me", I said trying to calm her down. "The vampire coven is back", I said, trying to sound calm when I really wasn't. "What?!",she exploded. Ok nothing I can help there, once she's off there's no stopping her.

Once she calmed down I explained everything I could as we walked to school. Once we got to school the smell hit us again, not as strong like with all the members but still thick like at least one of them is here. I started to growl but cut myself off. I went to a school filled with humans and they already think I'm weird, just because I live in the woods. I don't need me growling to be added to the list.

Elisa smelt it to. We both jumped out of our skins, or should I say furs, when we felt someone tap our shoulders. we turned around to see none other than the leader of the coven. "Well look what the wolf dragged in", I growled under my breath "Marco", Elisa growled. Marco flashed a wicked grin. "I just thought I should tell you that Ethan will also be attending this school", Marco said looking bored.

"Thanks for the tip, Marco", I growled. "Now get out of here before I rip your throat out", I said challengingly. My dad trained me to handle everything and anything. I have to have training and reflexes if I want to become alpha one day. "Don't need to get violent sweetheart, I was just leaving", he turned and walked away without another word.

"God, how I wish I could punch him in the face", I said walking towards school. I could feel my wolf stirring inside, trying to claw her way out. I had to calm down before I went inside. Elisa stayed with me till I was ready. We both walked in and went to our lockers, which surprisingly were right next to each other's. We both had home room together which was also first period.

Ethan walked in, gracefully and elegantly. "Here we go", I whispered under my breath as the bell rang. The teacher droned on and on about the civil war and I tuned out. Before I knew it lunch time came around. I was sitting with my friends (also from my dad's pack) when I felt someone was watching me. It put my wolf and I on edge and we were on alert.

I turned around to see Ethan sitting by himself, and staring at me. I quickly turned away. "Why was he staring at me?", I asked myself silently, carefully not trying to send that to the rest of the pack. Packs have special mental bonds where we can feel and hear what others in our pack are thinking and feeling. I relaxed and turned around again. Only to see that he disappeared.
