The old man walked slowly in my office. Once he got inside I shut the door. It was so dark in the office, I hated it. The lights are so dim; I’ve been meaning to replace them. Inside the office was a mess. There were papers everywhere. There was a dark wood desk with 3 chairs. On the desk was an old computer that could barely run half the time.

“Please have a seat” I said, trying to comfort the man. I don’t think it really worked. I’m not that much of a people’s person.  Mr. Wilson slowly sat down. I feel like everything about this man is slow.

“It’s my wi..fe, she didn’t come home last night” He cried.

“Do you have a picture with you?”

He got out a picture of a petite blonde woman in her early 20’s.

“I have money if that’s an issue” he said.

There it is. That’s how an old man like him get a woman like that.

“It’s not an issue, sir” I replied trying to refer him.

“Thank you so much, Miss. Walters.

Mr. Wilson got out of his chair and left the room.

“Wait,” I yelled. Too late he’s already gone.

I can’t believe he left. I had so much more questions. Like where was she left, what’s her name and did she have enemies.

My Phone buzzed. It was Police Captain Conner.

“Hey Jodie, You one any cases?” He asked.

“Yeah, just got one, a guy named Mark Wilson,”

“Is he in any relation with Hilary Wilson?” He asked with a urgent tone in voice.

“Is she blonde, petite and early 20’s?” I asked worriedly.

“Yeah.. Jodie you should get her immediately,”

I hung up and ran out of my office. I quickly hailed a taxi and got in.

“Police station, please” I said to the nicer cabbie.

          “Yes, ma’am,”

Once the cab started to move the rain turned to hail. Hearing the hard hail hit the roof was kind of scary. I was used to the rain and stuff, but hail was a different story. People actually die from that stuff. When was the last time you heard someone say “Hey, you hear about the guy who got killed by rain?” Nope.

Once I got to the police station I got greeted by Mrs. Carter.

                   “Hey, Sweetie,”

                   “Hi, Mrs. Carter,”

                   “You here for Captain Conner,”

                   “Yeah, newest crime scene”

“Alright have a nice day, Jodi”

                   “You too Mrs. Carter”

Finally I got away from her. I love her like a mother but she is a talker. Maybe it’s because I have a negative outlook on people, I don’t know.  Once I got out of the main office the hallway was the next room. It was all gray and dark. The only pictures in the hall were of old captains.

“Jodi, is that you,” Yelled a familiar voice.

          “Captain?” I questioned.

“No, Jodi it’s me, Sam Yard from High School,”

“Sam, nice to see you again,”

          “Same here,”

Sam was one of the popular kids at my school. I’m surprised he even knows my name. At my school I wasn’t the most popular girl. I mostly got in peoples way. In 10th grade I had a crush on Sam, now I have no time for crushes just work.

“Hey, I got to go people are waiting on me” I said trying not to sound rude. But knowing me it was rude, like I said I wasn’t a people’s person.

“Ok-okay,” He replied kind of disappointed, which was kind of a shocker.

I found the exam room and saw the body. It was Hilary Wilson. There were cuts on her wrist and on her throat. The murderer obviously cared about her. They kept her clean. Her hair was brushed, her clothes were fancy and there was not a drop of blood on her. It was kind of creepy seeing her dead. Seeing a total stranger dead. And I’m the one going to have to tell her husband.

“Isn’t weird seeing someone like this?” A mysterious voice said.

I quickly jumped and turned around seeing the person talking to me. I was so scared for a second.

          “Holy shit, James” I screamed.

“Jodi, you can’t call me James here, it’s Captain Conner” He replied stern fully.

“Everyone knows that you’re like my dad” I replied smiling.

“I don’t care, soon everyone will be calling me James” He replied.
