Victor
For Winter this year, I decided to go back to Japan, like I did last year. Last year it was for a party, which Georgi had decided to be traditional Japanese, but this year... I had a break from competitions, so I decided to come back and explore the wonders of Japan. I'd been to Akihabara, Okinawa, Tokyo, and a few other places before I decided to come here.
To Hasetsu.
Last year's party was held in Fukuoka, the place beside here, but here is where the boy got off. I was wondering, perhaps, was Christmas different here? I walked around for a while, seemingly unnoticed by the public, when I came across a skating rink. I figured I could have a look at what the rinks here have to offer. And of course, I was not disappointed.
I entered, and there were no staff on duty - they all seemed to be watching something in the rink. I made my way over to the glass - a boy was on the ice, and it was as if he has wings. He skated flawlessly, and his expression was relaxed, at peace. I was entranced. But then I realized... it was MY program. He was skating my program, without a single issue. Flawlessly. I took a closer look - there's no way a skater of this level wasn't famous.
I realized, he was two things. One, the figure skater, Yuri Katsuki. Two, the train boy. And once I realized that, my heart rejoiced. A smile came to my face, and my heart was thumping out of my chest. He was wonderful. He was an angel.
I hadn't noticed, but somebody must have taken a picture, because suddenly the place was packed to the brim. And not for Yuri - which was made me angry. They were here to see me, when something as beautiful as Yuri was skating so wonderfully. It was outrageous. As the rink owners backed people and paparazzi up, I noticed the boy had finished and had left. I at least wanted to say hi...
But then, he was there.
Pushing through the crowd, he stood feet away from me. Our eyes met, and it was wonderful. His eyes were such a soft brown, and his face was the pale color with the slight blush I loved. I couldn't control it. I smiled, ever so happy. But... he ran. Pushed back through the crowd. Even though I was disappointed, my smile wouldn't go away. I saw a way out in the door a few feet behind me and made my way out.
Quickly, I dashed behind a building in the next street, putting on my face mask and making it so that my hair was in my hat. I went back into the street, staying as inconspicuous as possible. Then, I began my search for him. I struggled for a while, but I saw him in front of a small coffee shop and followed him from there. Hiding behind buildings and the such. Why was I so nervous? Ahhh! There was no right time to talk to him. He looked as if he was searching for something.
someone.Me?
Even so, that would make it even more awkward! Eventually, he looked like he had given up and headed towards a more green part of Hasetsu. Though... there were just more dead trees, not really any green. He headed down a park path, and I hesitated, but followed him. I realized I'd lost him. Where did he go? I rushed down the path, a little frantic as it began to snow a little. Then, like a clumsy school girl, I tripped.
I rolled a little down a hill, and when I finally stopped, I was on the floor, covered in leaves from head to toe. Sitting up, I noticed someone was staring at me. Blinking a little, I noticed it was the one I was looking for.
"Ah!" I found myself exclaiming.
He gave me a confused look at first, but when I brushed some leaves off myself he took a sharp breath in and jumped back. "Ahhhh! Please don't worry, I-I don't mean any harm," I stuttered, a little flustered. He seemed at a loss for words. I chuckled. "Yuri, isn't it? It's um... a pleasure to meet you?"
He blinked for a moment, then nodded. He was... shaking? "Are you cold?" I asked, taking off my coat to offer to him. He blinked again, but began furiously shaking his head as his cheeks became flushed. "N-No! I'm not!" He said, covering his face. Adorable...!
"Oh! I haven't introduced myself, I'm-"
"V-Victor... you're Victor Nikiforov. Do you mind me asking... Wh-why you're here?"
I laughed. He seemed a little shocked when I did, so I slowed it down to a chuckle. "I... I guess I was looking for you," I admitted.
He blushed. "Me? Looking for me? Did I um... d-do something...?"
I shook my head, holding back more laughter. "Not at all! I just wanted to talk to you, or something. As a fellow skater?" My reasoning made even myself suspicious. But, to my surprise, he simply nodded. His eyes were glued to me.
To break the awkwardness a little, I got up and tapped the frozen over creek. "It seems pretty thick... well..." I stepped onto the ice, and slid across. But, I had barely any control and slipped.
"Victor!"
I slipped, but there was no impact? I opened my eyes, and Yuri was holding me up. His eyes met mine and... he blushed after he realized, but he didn't drop me like his expression seemed to suggest. "You're kind of like a prince, aren't you?" I chuckled. "Huh...?" he breathed. His face flushed a deep red, and he gently let go of me. But the moment he did, I slipped again.
This time, he held my arm and kept me stabilized. "Wh-why are we on the ice again? Isn't this dangerous?" He murmured, being incredibly careful with his balance. "Well, isn't it nice to live life on the edge a little? You seem like you don't very often."
He blinked at my words.
I bent over and rolled snow up into my hand once I'd managed to balance myself. Then, I turned and threw it right at him. Surprised, he slipped. I laughed, but immediately regretted that decision - he threw an even bigger snowball at me.
The snow fell gently from the darkened clouds, the small amounts of light that seeped through reflected against the ice, the snowballs that hit us fell apart and dropped quietly to the ground, and our laughter filled the area.
From there, we began our short-lived happiness.
