Chief Hopper entered the modest old building of Hawkins Police Station which was a part of Hawkins Police Department. With a stressful morning and breakfast of burnt toast (and NO COFFEE), he was in no mood for anymore ugly surprises. But since when has fate sided with him."You're earlier than usual," Florence taunted. "Good job!"
"Ah, it's nothing. I like to be punctual on my job and be humble about it." Hopper shot back calmly.
"Absolutely! You've been proving that exceedingly well for the past 4 years. 1979 wasn't a great year for our police department."
"Well I proved that 'exceedingly well' this year, didn't I?"
"That's exactly why I chose your responsible and punctual self to guide a rookie joining us in a few days. You can show her a few ropes and not me." She pushed back her glasses in an I-mean-business kind of way.
"I like to work alone. You know that."
"One thing you should've learned by now is that everything I say is an automatic order and not a request."
"One thing you should've learned by now is that I. Don't. Take. Orders."
"Well, let this be your first time. She'll visit you tomorrow so you can save some of your 70-year-old-granny sass for her. Everything you should know about her is in this file."
She slid a file across the desk to Chief Hopper. He opened it and read the name:
Leah Parker
She already sounded like trouble and once again, Chief Hopper was absolutely right.
