your smile faded as you looked up from your lunch tray. you were right about to speak, adding to the pretty hilarious conversation you and your friends were having about prom disasters--since prom was coming and approaching fast. but the thought left just as soon as it came as you saw the notorious, edwin honoret making his way over to your lunch table.

'the hell is he doing? who does he think he is just to come waltz over here? especially after what he did to asi--' you thought, furrowing your eyebrows in confusion, but you sighed as you rested your head on your fist. who were you kidding? you couldn't hate edwin--he never did anything to you ... directly, at least. in math, a few weeks ago you were assigned to tutor him after school on wednesdays and fridays. he seemed like a pretty decent guy, even though he was jock and never bothered to study for any of the quizzes in math, there was really no apparent reason to hate him except what you hear about him from word-of-mouth--and maybe the fact that last week you waited after school in the library and he didn't show up on either day.

your friends, on the other hand, despised him, and so maybe they had a good reason to, but you didn't. you were the new girl, it was only your third month here and well things were going well nevertheless, at least in comparison to your old school. it was your senior year, and all past three years of high school were hell. here things you were different, you were actually effortlessly fitting in with the popular crowd and you didn't want to do anything to jeopardize that at all.

the conversation died down at your lunch table as it were apparent that everyone noticed edwin making his way over here. asia rolled her eyes and groaned in annoyance as she turned away in the opposite direction of the approaching edwin and faced you. "who invited his ass over here?" she murmured under her breath as she clenched her jaw. you shrugged your shoulders beginning to get a tad bit nervous. no one liked to see asia upset because it made other people upset, that of which then starts drama. but you did consider yourself lucky to be asia's best friend, it did come with a price because she was one of the most popular girls in school, it also helps you easily make friends with hers.

"don't worry, baby." zion kuwonu, asia's new boyfriend of one week, consoled her draping his arm around her shoulder and pulling her into him as he pecked her forehead. "if he wants to start problems, he better start 'em with me cause he got the right one for that," he muttered glaring over at edwin. clearing his throat, zion arose from his seat and neared edwin who was just now nearing the table. "is there a problem?" he barked in edwin's face towering over him a bit.

edwin passively glared over at zion. "it's not like i'm here for you." he snarled brushing past him.  "well i know you're damn straight not over here for asia!" zion huffed looking as if he was prepared to fight. "don't get your hopes up," edwin chuckled mockingly as he then steered his gaze at you. "i'm here for her, y/n." he said, bringing idmedate shock to you, asia, zion and everyone else at your table.

clutching your arm tightly, asia snapped your gaze over to her. "y/n, don't tell me you seriously fucking friends with him--especially after you know what he did to me." she said in a low scowl, narrowing her eyes at me. you quickly shook your head opposition. "no, no -- i barely know him." you somewhat lied trying to appease asia. "i'm pretty sure he's here to ask about math homework or something, w-we-we're in the same class." you stuttered arising from your seat and pulling your arm from asia's clutches, as you went over to edwin dragging him away from your lunch table and over towards the wall.

"hey there," edwin smiled brightly with warm eyes almost as if they lit up once upon your face. "don't 'hey there' me i--" you said getting cut off by edwin who nodded his head. "i know, i know, you must be mad at me for not showing up to tutoring last week. I'm sorry it's just that they had emergency football practice for the game last friday. i would've texted you about it, but i forgot to." he said explaining himself with a smile still on his face.
