Millie met up with the girls and Lilia for a night out. Before the girls arrived, it was just Millie and Lilia. There was immense tension in the air. There were awkward silences and pauses.
'So Mill, hows your Mom?' Lilia asked awkwardly.
'She's good.' Millie gave a short worded answer.
'And Charlie and Paige? How are they?'
'They're fine..'
Millie looked around the restaurant, hoping the other girls would arrive soon.
'Look Millie.... I don't know how to say this but Wyatt and me- um- it was a huge mistake.... I can't even believe that I did that.'
Millie looked at her and watched the tears threatening to spill over her eyes. This seemed genuine, and Millie had missed having her best friend around.
'And I know that it will take a lot for you to trust me again, or even forgive me...... but just know that I am so sorry and I never meant to hurt you.....'
Millie reached over and placed her hand over Lilia's. She looked up and felt tears in her own hazel eyes. 'It's okay. It's hard for me, but I will forgive you. Because I want to forgive you.'
Lilia smiled gratefully, and at that moment all the other girls came through the doors to sit down.
'Hey gals, what did we miss?' Sadie said, flipping her long hair over her shoulder.
'Just Mills and I finally making peace,' Lilia smiled whilst reaching over to squeeze Millie's hand. All the girls squealed in excitement all grabbing each others hands.
'I'm just glad we can all be a group again,' Maddie smiled and sat down mimicking Sadie's actions of whipping her hair over her shoulder.
The girls chatted for hours, reminiscing in old memories. They ordered their third bottle of wine, using their fakes IDs and all began to become very tipsy. They laughed and giggled attracting some peculiar looks from the more sophisticated people in the restaurant. In their fuzzy states of minds, seeing people's serious faces only made them giggle more. Next thing Millie knew, she was very drunk.
'I'm just going to the bathroom,' she said before standing up dramatically and swaying towards the bathroom. She walked into the bathroom and glanced at her slightly blurred reflection in the mirror. She looked messy. Her hair was static and her make up smudged. She rubbed her face with drunk desperation. She swayed and leant her head against the wall of the bathroom, feeling her pulse pounding around her body. She then had a sudden desire to call Finn. She whipped out her phone and pressed on his contact. After two rings, he answered with his low, raspy voice.
'Hiya angel.'
'Finn......Finnie....' she whined,
He paused. She could hear him breathing on the end of the line. 'You're drunk.' He stated.
'Yes Finnie, I'm drunk.... I'm very very very drunk.'
'Where are you?' He asked, trying to mask the concern lacing his voice.
'Is Finnie worried about me?' She asked teasingly.
'No love,' he lied, 'just wondering what you're up to which had made you this drunk.'
'I'm out for drinks. With Lilia and the girls.'
'Right.' He paused, 'so you're not alone?'
'No silly I'm not alone.' She said, her voice sounding very British.
'All right then love, you should get home. It's late.'
Millie ignored his comment and proceeded with the conversation, 'have I ever told you that you have amazing cheekbones?' She smiled, twirling her hair.
He chuckled over the phone, 'Oh Mills- love, you're gonna regret this in the morning.'
She leant against the wall and bit her lip, the phone still pressed against her temple, 'and you're such a good kisser,' she giggled remembering his lips against hers.
'As much as I want to kiss you right now, this is a conversation we should have when you're sober.' He smirked, knowing she was going to be revelling with embarrassment by tomorrow.
Millie now exited the bathroom and had caught sight of the older boy she had a crush on, Jacob. Her heart thumped, she was gonna talk to him. Alcohol had given her a sudden boost of confidence.
'Millie are you still there?' Finn asked,
'Yeah Finn I'm gonna see you tomorrow. I've just seen Jacob.... and I'm gonna go talk to him.... how do I look?.... oh, you can't see me......I don't feel well' Millie rambled until finally she said goodbye to Finn and put the phone down.
Finn felt jealously pang through his chest. Jacob was a sleazy lowlife, who had blown his trust fund in the first year of travelling. He didn't like him being around the girl he had developed feelings for. Although he refused to admit that he had. Every time he felt butterflies around her, he tried to suppress them. It was Millie. The girl he had known since he was tiny, the girl who dated his best friend for years. With this denial for his feelings, he went to bed.
