Olaniyi's POV

Monica? What in God's name does she want from me? Why on earth would she be calling me? The sound of her steady breathe reached me through the phone and I grimaced, she must think that doing that still had an effect on me like it used to. She's sorely mistaken.

"Monica, how can I help you?". I think I have to ask her that so she doesn't have any foolish ideas about what doesn't exist anymore.

She purrs into the phone " I heard you are getting married".

So what? Sue me for meeting someone exceptional. I repeat the same to her and she began to complain in a whiny voice about the fact that Yemisi holds a public office and might have slept her way to the top. To the ordinary eye and an unperceptive person, Yemisi might seem fickle but to someone like me who knows what her ex husband and his family put her through and what she's facing now with Dele and that charity she heads. I know that she's definitely not fickle.

"Monica, get something straight and into your dumb self, Oluwayemisi is going to be my wife whether you like it or not, my family loves her immensely and I don't think she'll have a hard time becoming my wife" She cuts in loudly and says my parents accepted because of her tribe.

"Monica, you know very well that you teamed up with Dele to try to kill my dad. I know very well all that you did, so if you as much as take a hair off my fiancée to be, I'll spill your secrets so much that you'll plead for death. And you know better than anyone that the Nigerian social media is unforgiving, so please I'm begging you for your own sake to be sensible and not have foolish ideas that would bring your downfall. I hope I made myself clear".

If Monica thinks I'm going to take any distressing news about Yemisi lightly, she's in for a joke. " Be warned, you should know that you are dealing with Olaniyi Olanipekun, and I won't be letting you off easy if I find out you were behind that malicious article on LIB. I don't mind shutting that blog down".

Even though I don't love Yemisi, mutual respect and trust applies to our relationship was far more important. My mom loved and respected Monica during the nice times of our marriage, when she found out the sort of person she was, my mom was forced to dislike her.

Oluwayemisi's Pov

The beeping of my office phone system jerks me out of the reverie I'd been in since I read that article on LIB. Sometimes marrying into money brings a lot of heartache and trouble.

"Dina?? What is it ?". I had dismissed her to prepare for the quarterly meeting taking place tomorrow.

" Ma, your friends are here". I exhaled loudly and asked her to let them in, as they walked into my office. I could hear Roheemoh warning Dieko to behave herself. I stood up to give them hugs and slouchly walked to my seat.

"Yemisi, before I beat you tell me your parents know you are marrying Niyi".

When Dieko said this Roheemoh gave her a warning look and said "I'm sure her parents won't let her get married a second time without knowing her in-laws". My dad had said the same thing last night, his skepticism had shown last night.

"Let's go out and eat, there is this new restaurant three streets away that serves party jollof rice". I say to distract their attention from the matter at hand. We grab our bags and walk out to Roheemoh's car .

At the restaurant after the waiter takes our orders Dieko pipes up, "So Yemisi what are you going to do about your job, are you going to be able to juggle your public official job and this new one". Although this probably sounds childish, I've not thought about it since I made up my mind to resign after my marriage. When I open my mouth to answer her question, the waiter brings our food. It had successfully diverted Dieko's attention.

She eats her jollof rice thoughtfully for a minute before talking again "Why on earth didn't you wear better make-up you were just looking like a ghost, if you knew you were going on a date why didn't you call me to make you up . I'll have done it for free, no charges". I wonder what offence I committed to make God tell Dieko to begin her nagging.

Roheemoh comes to my rescue " Dieko, Yemisi just said she didn't know she was going to be snapped, besides, I don't think there was anything wrong with the way she was dressed, admit it she looked good".

Dieko shakes her head and swallows her food and says. "I didn't say she didn't look good, she could have looked better. People who know you are my friend will think I don't teach you make-up skills, they wouldn't know that íwó ló fè gbà".

In order to diffuse the tension, I say to them, " Olaniyi is coming to see my dad this weekend, so Dieko what do you think I should wear?" Dieko is also a fashion blogger as well as a stylist. She offers to go shopping for me, I refuse as my account balance isn't enough to buy me fuel from black market.

"Did I say you were going to pay, its an Ankara gown and I think its going to fit you perfectly, especially with that your body type". She turns to Roheemoh who asks me ."Should we come, its just to support you". I shake my head and say its just for a meeting with parents, I want to do this all by myself.

"Roheemoh, are you going to drop me back at the office? I have gifts for Alam and Moridiyah". She turns to me in surprise and I'm astonished "Why on earth are you surprised? It's just honeyed dates, I got them from my dad the last time he went to Dubai".

She looks at me with watering eyes and Dieko says "Are you pregnant, because I don't know why on earth you are crying".

"I'm not crying, I'm just thankful to God that things are going so well for Yemisi, she needs good things in her life. And yes Dieko you guessed right 'I'm pregnant'". She cups her barely noticeable belly and tears drop from her eyes.

"Have you told Azim? Because you've been zoning out all day, does he want another baby right now". She nods her head while I asked for the check, we walked out after paying and in the car when I asked her again, she pulled the car to the side of the road and turned to us.

"I'm having twins and yes I've told Azim, I just haven't told him we are having twins yet. His mother is asking him to marry his cousin, you know he married me out of defiance to their family arrangement".

We nod our heads and I shrank back into my seat and silently pray for her marriage. She needs her husband now more than ever.

Olaniyi's Pov

"Farhan, get me Peter Oribogunje's personal number". Farhan calls our private Investigator and few minutes later a message comes in. Farhan forwards the message to me and I ask him to get flowers delivered to my sister and Yemisi.

I dial my ex wife's husband's number, I tap my fingers on my glass table in a rhythmic beat while I wait for him to pick up, he picks up on the last ring.

"Hello Senator Oribogunje, this is Olaniyi Olanipekun". He makes a sound of surprise and stutters. Good. That's the sort of reaction I was expecting, when I'm done with him he won't know what hit him.

"I have it on good authority that your wife engineered that article by Linda Ikeji Blog that insinuated nonsense on my fiancée". He exhales loudly and oh Lord, its irritating.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know she took a picture that day, we had seen a fellow senator there for dinner". He tries to explain the rationale behind his wife's intrusion on Yemisi's privacy. This just further fans my already burning anger.

"I don't need any explanation as I'm not going to seat back and watch anyone be a cyberbully to my wife to be. I need your wife to put up an apology on her Instagram page before midnight today". Next time she'll think twice before messing with what is mine.

He laughs nervously and tells me to please forgive Monica as it was a moment of indiscretion. "I don't want to know, all I want is an apology to my fiancée before midnight or else I'll help you uncover what you are trying to hide". I cut the call.
