It all started on the day of my 15th birthday. It was a Tuesday, so I had to go to school. I lived with my Aunt Ava and my 12 year old cousin Remember. She shared my copper hair, but, Ava made her die the ends blue to make her stand out.
Aunt Ava was one of those people who stood out. Her ice blonde hair fell past her thighs and was always coiled into a thick braid. She had full, red lips and her her cheeks shone a pale pink against her pale face. Her bright blue, eyes were charmers, and many had asked for her hand in marriage.
But she had always denied those request, saying, "I shall never love again since my husband died."
I ride on the Overhead train to school, so I grabbed my card to go. My pants snagged, tearing a fairly large hole in my blue jeans. "Ugh" I mumbled. First, my phone was at 2%. And now this? Ripped jeans? I'll be the laughingstock of school.
But, I had to rush if I wanted to even make it. So I grabbed my bag, and jogged out the door, and down the street to the Overhead stop. The clear, metal tracks were silent above my head, but I felt the vibrations in the ground.
The train was coming.
I ran to the stop, hoping Remember would have saved me a seat. But then I remembered: She hates me now.
I got on the bus, as the last person. Remember eyed me from the back of the train. She sneered, and then whispered something to the girl sitting beside her. They laughed together. I balled up my fists, and in the process...
