Astarot was one prince of many. One prince of thousands across a hundred kingdoms. All of them rivals. All of them in fear of one thing - the death of the Empire.
For when the Empire fell the world would fall into chaos. Fracturing into warring kingdoms with no end in sight. Only one thing could stop the death of the Empire - a girl. A princess to be precise. The first girl dragon born in a century. There would be no wondering if a king or emperor would birth a true heir, a proper dragon, because female dragons always breed true.
A princess could save the Empire and all of dragon kind before they slowly cave in on themselves and melt to be one with man.
And Prince Astarot was determined that he would be the dragon to father the first princess in a hundred years. He would be the start of a new royal bloodline to last a thousand years. To that end the royal dragon prince had a plan. His brothers had similar plans.
The princes would endeavor to impregnate every woman in their kingdom. Every. Woman.
Well. Within reason.
In a giant spiraling tower of a castle Astarot and his brothers lived with their harem of women and their hundreds upon hundreds of sons. Some sons were true bred dragons but most were regular men. And not a single daughter.
"We have the latest lady, my prince. A farm girl whose grandfather was said to have green eyes. She's fresh." A throat cleanse. "And waiting for you in your chambers."
"Is she easy to look at, Clive?" Astarot spoke to his trusted advisor and friend as they marched down the carved stone halls to the royal prince's bed chambers.
Astarot was easy to look at. A long mane of raven hair that he kept slicked back. His sparkling green eyes and natural brown skin. Like being lost in a desert - you searched for the green oasis. And once you found the oasis there was no turning back. His eyes hypnotized. A gift most dragons claimed to have but only a rare few did. The hypnotic look.
"Tarot. Do you think I want to lay with an ugly woman? Do you think I want the future queen to be ugly? She's gorgeous. Not even for a farm girl gorgeous. She's beautiful. There has to be dragon blood there." Clive was Astarot's confidant. He knew Astarot better than anyone.
Clive had a different sort of handsome look. Bright green eyes and short sandy blonde hair. A soft face that somehow looked like it smiled easily - even as frown lines started to set in.
Astarot did not get a chance to answer because he and Clive were at the chamber doors.
"Look at her yourself, Tarot." Clive opened the door and Astarot stepped into his chambers. Clive following - closing and latching the door behind him.
The lady stood with her back facing the men. Her long natural black hair frizzy and agitated from the strange humidity in the stone castle. She was barefoot and wore a simple white slip.
"You bathed her already." Astarot tutted at Clive as he stripped himself of his sword and handed it to him. "A shame. You know I enjoy that part."
"I imagined we could cut straight to the most enjoyable part, my prince." Clive did a small bow as he talked, taking the prince's sword with his own and placing them aside.
Astarot walked around to the end of the room and took in all of his new addition.
Her skin looked like golden honey and her eyes were pools of obsidian. And the rest of her... Clive smirked as he saw Astarot's reaction.
"I told you she was beautiful." The advisor teased as he came to stand behind the lady.
"She's perfect." Astarot placed his hands on her hips. "Tell me lady... You do understand why you're here?" The dragon prince licked his lips.
She shifted on her feet. "To do my duty to the Empire, my prince." Astarot brought her deep into an embrace.
"And that you shall, my lady..." His lips trailed along her neck, giving her butterfly kisses. "Call me Tarot... what shall I call you?"
She stiffened, yet a smile graced her lips. "My name is Lee."
