TWO:
Nightmare
(12/21/17)

Pete observed that, not only were nightmares generally common in his dreams — so common to the point that they were being dreadfully expected by the time he hit the pillow — they were also common in real life, too.

For example:

"Why are you so angry at me?" The words hurt, because Pete knew his boyfriend knows the answer. The fact that Caden has completely regarded Pete's irritable episodes made him... upset.

"I'm not angry at you." Pete's voice lowered to a murmur. He leaned against the wall in a moment to recollect his head from spinning, feeling a burn in his chest that he probably shouldn't, because it always makes these kinds of arguments worse.

He watched Caden's lips fall into a sigh. "You need to take the pill, Peter." He said after a moment, and Pete's eyes narrowed.

"I'm not taking that thing."

"Well, if you don't, that means we're just going to fall into a situation like this again." Caden threw his arms out angrily, clenching his jaw to where Pete felt almost intimidated, even if he knew these fights were just words and not actions. "Why can't you be happy?"

"It's hard to be happy when you're deprived from energy and when your boyfriend is not understanding of it." Pete hissed, drawing the line of Caden's patience. This really made him pissed.

"Not understanding of it? Pete, you've got to be the most least emotional understanding person I've ever met!" Caden shrieked, stepping back. Pete opened his mouth to retort, but closed it thoughtfully, letting Caden continue.

"I know you way more then you know yourself — without me, you'd be fucking lost. You don't know how to take care of yourself. You're way too dependent on just letting things go work themselves." Caden cried. "So to say that I am unable to help you and understand you is your fault. Because I'm helping you cope with your emotions. You depend on me"

Yeah. Pete angrily grabbed his own wrist to help him calm himself, but that didn't work. Caden stood there helplessly, waiting for him to say something while on verge of tears, and Pete couldn't feel sympathy.

"Then why are you asking me why I'm not happy?" Pete gritted his teeth tightly. His head hurt.

"I don't know! It's not like you're depressed, lighten up! It gets tiring constantly having someone who usually is there for you suddenly be a huge jerk?" Caden scowled. "I'm joking with you and you got pissed at me, Peter, you know my jokes, why did you get so fucking mad?"

"I don't know." Pete pressed angrily, and Caden's shoulders scrunched up even more, keeping a stiff posture with his feet flat on the floor.

It went tensely quiet.

"I'm just worried about you, I guess...?" Caden seemed confused when he said this. "But you can control your emotions better then you think, so maybe you should work on that"

"And what about you?" Pete shot. "You keep lecturing me about being so not-perfect. What will you do to better yourself?"

Caden glared, obviously peeved from the question, and Pete knew this would happen from the moment he decided to speak his mind.

"What the fuck do you want me to do then?" He almost yelled, but Pete stayed put, unmoving.

"I'm not taking that pill." He spoke instead. "It makes me anxious"

Caden sighed, and slumped against the wall. Pete felt worried for a second when Caden didn't move, but then stopped when Caden finally readjusted himself to a normal posture.

"I know it does." Caden mumbled. "We should go get you checked up, huh?"

"I don't like checkups." Pete muttered.

"I don't like a lot of things, such as, I don't know, arguing with you? But I have to..." Caden trailed off. "Because you are incapable of taking care of yourself, so I have to take that place. Suck it up, Peter, I'm making you an appointment, it's for your well-being"

Pete didn't know how to respond, so he didn't.

"Will we get a pill that won't knock me out?" Pete asked after a few quiet moments. He watched Caden form a sad smile as he nodded reassuringly, letting his gaze drop back to the floor.

"Yeah, honey, we will."
